HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here. Be sure to check the end of last week's thread for several new posts and a lovely photo from Limpy.
The Full Moon is Wednesday! Everyone have a wonderful week!
Hi, all.
OG: So glad that you're feeling so well!
Heather: Welcome back. So sorry about the hotel and plane issues. I'm claustrophobic, and I don't know whether I could make myself travel on a large jet now.
Nice to hear from George.
dibnlib: Good news about your dental work!
Rosy: Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family.
Rita; I also had a boxer dog. I loved him dearly and have been missing him lately. He was energetic as a puppy, though.
Brenda: It must have scared you silly when the puppy touched the hob.
AQ: I hope you don't catch the cold virus.
Lindy: Glad you made it back home safely after the scary drive! Phew.
Annette: I do hope that treatment went well and Lightning will be on the mend. Happy Thanksgiving to you.
I'm off to my brother's tomorrow evening to spend Thanksgiving with him and his family. "See" you all in a couple of days.
Oh (sweary word here). Just did a long post on Sticky Notes and somehot inadvertently hit a combination of keys that deleted it!!
Anyway, long story short: Seems like a good day for dental work. Lightning is back home and enjoying lots of attention following multiple extractions. All I have to do now is organize painkilling drops on her gums twice a day for the next 7 days! Ha! Did manage to hide an antibiotic in her evening meal though...
I'm not organized at all as far as Christmas is concerned. I'm barely organized for Thanksgiving. I don't imagine the sky will fall so I'm not going to stress about it.
Everyone have an AWESOME Wednesday! :-)
Good Morning, All. Still dark here, but Bonnie woke us up early so we are having some tea, & now contemplating the day ahead. Not a rest day, OG, as I'm off for a much needed haircut this morning, and visiting my Friend this afternoon as it's her birthday. My OH is off in the other direction to collect Amber's Christmas present - a sandpit & water play tray for the garden, complete with two bags of sand! We had to order it as of course they don't have much stock of outdoor toys at this time of year. However, her parents wanted things for outdoor play, ready for next summer.
Diane: Nice that you will spend Thanksgiving with family - have a great time.
Annette: Can imagine the swearywords after losing your post. Bah! Glad that Lightning has had her extractions, expect she will soon pick up now and feel lots better. Good Luck with getting the drops on her gums........
It rained here yesterday all day, some of the time "in stair rods" as we used to say, enough to need to get out the hammer & nails to build an Ark! Everywhere is very very wet now & our lawn is very soggy.
Meant to say, pleased to hear that EE got his dental work done successfully, OG, but you must be disappointed that you are to lose your new dentist so soon after discovering her. I hope her replacement is equally good.
Good that you're feeling well, yourself. Don't do too much & tire yourself!
Good morning everyone
It sounds wet this morning. Still dark but the cars outside sound as if their tyres are on wet roads. OH went to bed at 8.30 pm and switched his light off straightaway. He has had a much better night, thank goodness.
Regarding our uncomfortable flight - it was made worse because of all the small suitcases that folk travel with as free cabin baggage these days. I don't blame them for doing so if it saves them having to pay for putting a case in the hold, but it means that everyone has to put their smaller hand luggage under the seat in front of them. We had no choice in the matter. OH's rucksack and my (large!) tote bag had to be stowed in this way. So no chance to stretch his legs at all. I notice that the budget airlines don't seem to mention stretching and moving your legs these days, as a precaution against blood clots! They are raking in more money by allowing these cases in the cabin thus attracting more customers and cramming as many rows of seats in as possible. End of rant!! It does seem silly to me,on reflection, that we paid a lot of money to stay in a lovely hotel and then I booked us to fly there in cattle class :-)) Mea Culpa.
I have caught up with all your news and may get back later to reply if the washing machine lets me.
And guess what?! My dear old brother phoned last night. He is coming to see us for few days, arriving Sunday. He is travelling alone, just has to pay as a foot passenger on the ferry. He gets free rail travel in the UK as an ex railway employee. It is a long journey by train from Plymouth with changes en route. I'm childishly excited at the thought of seeing him.
Good Morning Everyone. We must have had more rain overnight as everywhere is still very wet. Supposed to have sunny intervals by now, but no sign of them yet. The sky is grey.
OG, Sorry about you losing your dentist, especially as you all liked her. We have a new hygienist, who my husband has named the butcher. He reckons that she is not happy unless she draws blood.
Annette, Glad to see that Lightning is now home after her treatment. I hope you have no trouble with her pain killer.
Diane, Have a wonderful time with your brother.
Linda, Hope today will be drier for you and you don't have to build that ark. Enjoy your time with your friend.
Heather, I feel as though I am sharing your excitement at your brother's visit. I don't envy his very long train journey though.
Good morning. Well, I am watching the space – being the space where the tiler isn’t! We phoned after nine o’clock and were told that this afternoon he would call in to have a look (never seen a blank wall before?) and by the end of the day we should have a schedule for him tomorrow and then the boys to finish next week. Oh yeah? Mostly just pootling about today, although it is still dry, so we could plant the last bulbs (I know, they’re late) if we weren’t expecting the tiler! Sunrise this morning was deep red stripes – beautiful, although I know it indicates some stormy weather around.
Diane – thinking of you preparing to share Thanksgiving with your Brother and Family.
Annette – pleased that Lightning had her teeth out and came home – good luck with the painkillers, and well done with the antibiotic.
Linda – enjoy visit to your Friend – I hope she is feeling well enough to enjoy her birthday.
Heather – pleased to see that your OH slept well – always the best part of a holiday for me, coming back to my own bed! Good to see that your Brother is coming over for a visit, but a long train journey for him.
Brenda – I did think of following my dentist to Dumfries – and although further, a better road - but it seems to be an upstairs consulting room, so no good for me. I will check to be absolutely sure.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
J has gone out to meet someone and we are awaiting a parcel of cheese from an online order. OH's PC is humming at us - told him to switch it off and switch it back on again! He moved the Dahlias this morning, cleaned their pot tops and put them against the house to keep them warm - hope they will dry out a bit more before covering with fleece. Weather now dull but still no rain.
I guess you are all very busy today!
50 lengths swim this morning, only ever 3 others in the pool, hopefully the same tomorrow. Went to Tesco and did a £50 shop, which was quite heavy, but I don't have far to walk home from the nearest bus stop!!!!!. was I in for a shock. The timetable changed (for the better) on Monday and I discovered it doesn't come to my area of Culloden anymore. Struggled home and felt ill by the time I put the key in the lock. It is only about 10-15 mins which is fine.....but only when you don't have to carry anything much.
Not long back from an hours walk. First off I saw a red squirrel pretty close. I watched him for a couple of mins before He disappeared high up the tree. Immediately after I bumped into a friend I haven't seen in ages, so stopped for a catch up. Further on I bumped into a complete stranger and we had a good long blether before I headed home. Benso kept himself occupied while I was having a chat and is now looking forward to his tea in 20 mins.
We are off out this evening so I will miss Masterchef which I so enjoy.
Tomorrow I will swim again in the morning and buy only a paper at Tesco. A friend is coming in the afternoon and OH has made sweet potato soup for us both to enjoy.
