HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here. Be sure to check the end of last week's thread for several new posts and a lovely photo from Limpy.
The Full Moon is Wednesday! Everyone have a wonderful week!
BTW, when trying to take pics of Bonnie on that beach, I got an awful lot of pics with just a glimpse of tail disappearing, or of nothing but the sand, as she flashed by! She is remarkably fast for a smallish dog, & has sooo much energy.
We are, unbelievably, off to Wales for just the day! We decided to go to take some surplus bedding etc to leave there, as I'm trying to make room for Christmas guests in our tiny house. How I'm going to get rid of some of the boxes of documents etc that I have in the study,I really don't know!! Will report later.
LIMPY you luck, lucky person. what lovely pics. Not many people have an otter pal.
Off to town this am to bank lots of cash for Macmillan. I am very pleased with the result.
Hello from Wales!!
We were told by friends that there had been a new aerial installed, on a pole, but I dare not get too excited! First thing I saw as we rounded the corner was a tall silvery construction. I had brought the new tablet, for testing purposes, so here I am! Hooray!
We had a good journey down with little traffic. We were intending to call in at Conwy RSPB, where we have never been, for a coffee & a look around. But alas, it wasn't where we thought it was at all! We asked several people for directions, and headed back into the town. We then got totally lost! After a nice tour of the area, we found ourselves heading out of the town again and on our way to our destination - so we decided to forget it, and carry on. All is well here and we've had a ham sandwich, so now headed for the beach for a brisk wintery walk.
Surprise! Of the top 20 worst traffic bottlenecks in the country, 9 are in Los Angeles and of the top 10 worst, 6 are in LA. The absolute worst in the country is the area around O'Hare Airport in Chicago (also the worst airport in terms of delays I think).
Just to confirm: No Wind, No Rain, No Snow (No Mountain High Enough either) here today.
Just read that a rare white rhino had to be put down at the San Diego Zoo yesterday, leaving only three in the entire world. This is sad news. :-(
dibnlib: Serious congratulations for the cash you earned! Bravo!
Lindybird: Have a safe drive home and nice to know you now have good internet service at the caravan.
Cat fed nice soft canned food; Peanut still noshing on lettuce leaf and baby carrots....where's my breakfast...?
Apprehensive about tomorrows dental appt. When i had the impressions done a fortnight ago, I was still suffering some pain when the dentist was drilling. This shouldn't have been happening as I had RCT. The dentist said the root may be fractured causing the pain. If this is so then the new crown will fail and the only thing to do will be extraction. Nightmare as the tooth is just off centre. I will of course go down the implant route, but will i have a gap till that can be done. Not a happy bunny. My apologies to those who have gone through much worse.
ANNETTE Do keep up with those tales of Peanut.....what a character
We're back home and resting after a busy day. My OH drove all of the way back, as I hate squinting into the darkness and tonight we had rain as well.
It seemed very strange being there during the colder weather: the 1st thing we did on arrival was to put the c. heating on. I wrapped up well for our walk, and there was a chill wind coming off the sea. The Site was deserted except for our trusty Handyman/Manager. We left as it turned dusk, and saw all the coastline lit up as we drove home.
Dibnlib: Well Done on helping such a worthy cause. Don't blame you for being anxious about your encounter with the Dentist. Hope all goes well - sometimes it's nothing like as bad as you imagine, so hope that's the case.
What a busy evening on here yesterday, and I didn’t have time for replies this morning!
Limpy – so pleased your patience was rewarded after getting up early for Olly Otter! You got some really good photos there, and he looks to be in good condition too – those whiskers are amazing! Pleased the three of you are okay.
Rosy – I hope you took some warm clothes to Cincinnati, but you would have needed them here too! Museum sounds interesting, and I am sure I would visit if staying that near, but conflict is a rather hot topic right now - worried about my cousin in Brussels.
Lynette – wondered where you were; pleased you have just been busy with Christmas preparations. I hope Sparrowhawk will return for you to get a good look – really handsome birds. Pleased the missing phone was relocated!
Annette – I like yoghourt treats – the ones with ginger in the middle! I think Peanut is just spoilt, with all those little extras and new toys! I admit to being an old Grumpy who shouts at the television – my current grumble is the word “PLEESE” which creeps in everywhere instead of “POLICE”, but I also correct people’s grammar! The White Rhino was in the news here too – very sad. All the best for Lightning tomorrow at the vet.
Heather – I hope you are now tucked up safe in Gatwick and have a good flight home tomorrow.
Linda – if you are dumping bedding at the caravan, what will the Christmas guests have on their beds? Sounds like an interesting day, even if RSPB at Conway was hiding from you! Pleased you have internet connection there now – in good time for next year.
Dibnlib – so pleased with your result for Macmillan! Well done! I do hope all is well with that tooth and you won’t need it out. OH is back at the dentist again tomorrow – appointment seven of six (!) as she changed the order of treatments; this really should be the end of this course of treatment.
Our day went as planned – my usual Goat Cheese and Caramelised Sandwich for lunch, and found all the shopping listed and some extras for Christmas nibbles. Visited our lovely farmer/butcher on the way home and had a long chat; also picked up her Christmas order form and opening hours, so can get on with planning our meals. She likes a weekend Christmas, but with four days closed for each of the two holidays, extra planning is necessary for us!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Thinking of Margo.
Limpy – Your patience rewarded. Stunning photos.
Heather – You are never too old to travel. There were four 90+ ladies who were on our bus trip to NSW the other year. We still see them on different trips.
Linda dumping bedding in Wales? Must be for the guests she doesn’t want. <grin>
Annette – Miss4 has started saying “Awesome”. Picked up from Miss19 when she’s on nanny duty.
Yesterday kids had colds, MissJ quiet, sooky, while MissL sneezing. Lovely. Last week I improvised a game when I sat a grizzling MissJ on the lounge, piled the cushions around her and beat on the cushions with my hands. She joined in, forgot her misery and next thing I had 3 little people beating “rhythms” on the poor cushions.
dibnlib: Good luck at the dentist's.
OG: You're correct; I've apparently spoiled Peanut, who spent a good bit of the morning sitting on the roof of his little tunnel squeaking pathetically as if nobody ever gave him any treats. :-) If he continues to turn up his twitchy little nose at the yogurt treats, I may have to send them to you. My primary shout at the tele is "Oh for God's sake!"
Lindybird: I wonder if the Manager of your caravan site gets lonely or maybe he likes it there when all you rowdies have left. :-)
AQ: I guess today's "Awesome" is the equivalent of our "Cool." So be it.
Have a good Tuesday everyone.
Good Morning, All. Raining here, but should cease soon as supposed to be showering. My OH has gone to play golf, anyway :-)
Didn't expect such interest in my sheets! Usually, I bring everything home from Wales at the end of the season: several sets of bedsheets, all the towels, my clothes etc. so that they don't get damp in the winter months. I put them into three large zip up bags. However, these get moved around our house all winter & are a nuisance. When we have staying guests they end up in our garage, which is very damp & dirty. So I decided that this time I would return them to Wales, together with a few other items, to make more space for people who use our guest room. I never find our caravan to be damp, except for some food items in the cupboard such as sugar, flour, etc. in winter & of course we empty these out.
EDIT: We have a third bedroom, which I describe as The Study, because most of my books are in there, plus my desktop pc. This is the smallest room and has become a dumping ground for all sorts of things. I've said I'll have a good clear out in there so that we can fit in a child's bed or cot, as it's a big squeeze to get one into our 2nd bedroom. Not looking forward to this as my idea of what needs to be kept, & my OHs, are very different!
