HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!
Last week's Chat thread is here.
The Full Moon is Tuesday. It's the last of three consecutive perigee full moons (so-called "supermoons"). However, its appearance will be more subtle due to a Minor Lunar Standstill.
We are well into autumn here in Indiana. The winds are gusting today, and the brightly colored leaves are falling. The Texas storm front is flowing into the Midwest, and the remnants of Hurricane Patricia will be over my patch on Tuesday and Wednesday. Not good news for my leaky roof.
I've just been bitten hard on the ankle by a spider, who has painfully reminded me that I really need to clean my house!
Many white-tailed deer have been grazing around my yard this past week, and I've spent a lot of time just watching them. If I stand still and stay quiet, I can view them from the doors and the windows and they aren't bothered by my presence. They're so beautiful; they nourish my soul.
Everyone have a great week and enjoy the moon!
Best wishes to OG and EE. I hope they've had safe travels and OG's treatment regimen will be effective and as easy as possible on her body. Thinking of you, Margo.

OG- when I was nursing, the question was asked to ensure that the correct minister was informed. Like RC in case of Last Rites and Holy Communion, Jewish because of important rituals, also Muslim for the same reason. 'Christian' is fine. You will probably be visited by a Church of Scotland, Baptist or Methodist minister. Unless you state your preference.
We are home from our day away celebrating with the family. Little Matthew did not smile throughout, sadly, as he's recovering from a bad cold, but he seemed bemused by all his visitors. Tomasz was overexcited on his behalf, & enjoyed helping to open the presents.
We're both tired now and ready for bed already!

My apologies, Brenda and all. My comment was just an off-hand remark to acknowledge that not everyone likes the secular Halloween, because I was going to mention the Halloween asteroid. I inserted that link by accident, and didn't mean to imply anything controversial about holiday origins, etc. Sorry!
My comment was awkward because I was distracted. My brother called and said that he was running 80 miles per hour on a rural highway at daylight, and 5 deer walked right out in front of him! He laid on the brakes and was all over the road trying to avoid them. He ultimately hit a yearling deer with the mirror on the driver's side of his car. Tore the mirror off and shorted out his radio, GPS, etc. My brother is okay. Phew. The deer ran into the woods; I don't know whether it recovered. I can't think about what would have happened to him if he'd hit one of the adults head on at that speed!
Glad you arrived home safely, Lindy. I hope Matthew recovers from his cold quickly. Poor fella.
You don't need to apologise,DIANE! Halloween is enjoyed by some of us and tolerated by others! Or not, as the case may be. I find the origins/history of most things quite fascinating. I'm so glad that your brother is OK.
Hello, Clare, how are you all doing? We were watching Strictly, in which I thought the hallowe’en fantasy theme really spoilt the potential dancing, and we had added sound effects from fireworks here – but thankfully nothing from the doorbell!
Heather – oh, yes, I know why the question is asked, but I am sure I would accept most true faith representatives at the end if required! When I was in for my knee, I was visited by three from our town, but this time I am not expecting to be there long enough for them to find me, though there is one (not one of the above) who is quite likely to seek me out if it is the right day of the week for him.
Linda – sorry it was such a tiring day, and that little Matthew was not well enough to enjoy his birthday.
Diane – I think your comment gave rise to interesting discussion rather than causing controversy! I thought your country had lower speed limits than here, where we can only do 60 on normal roads and 70 on motorway or dual carriageway! Pleased your brother is okay, and maybe the mirror etc came of worse than the deer. They do have a habit of coming out suddenly from woodland, but here they mostly come one at a time, so avoidance is easier!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Diane, I don't know why you are apologising. I know what I believe, but it is interesting to know about the history. You couldn't offend any of us, you are so kind and generous. :-)))Sorry about your brother's accident with the young deer. He must be in shock after such an experience. Hopefully the deer will be bruised, but fine.
We have had no children here tonight, so I have a basket full of sweets left. Daughter has had a 4yr old boy, with his daddy. She said he was such a sweet little boy that she gave him two of her halloween cup cakes, that she had made.
OG: The speed limit was 55, but there wasn't anyone on the road at that hour so he was speeding. :-(
When my parents were in the hospital, they were asked about religious affiliation, but they were able to opt out of clergy visits. They just had to indicate on the form that they didn't want to see clergy unless they were specifically summoned by the family. Maybe you have that option? Or is it different in the U.K.?
OG, We have been able to hear fireworks for most of the evening, but they are not in our village.
Linda, Sorry that poor Matthew was not well enough to enjoy himself. I hope you haven't caught his bug.
Thanks, Brenda and Heather!
Brenda and OG: I don't envy you the fireworks noise. I really hate them! They sound too much like gun fire, and they always make me so jumpy. I feel sorry for the wildlife and for war veterans for whom the noise could be a trigger for PTSD.
