HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's chat thread is here.
Hi, everyone.
Cold, grey, and rainy here, with gusty winds coming from the east coast.
Autumn has begun in Indiana, and I thought I'd post these fall foliage maps for the U.K. and the U.S.
Here's the Autumn Colours 2015 U.K.
Here's the Fall Foliage Prediction Map 2015 for the U.S.
I don't have a nice photo to start this week. I'm off to wrap up in my electric blanket and eat some hot northern bean soup.
Everyone have a wonderful week!!!
Another nice morning. Going to to try a few lengths this morning.I do hope it isn't crowded out with tots and their parents.
Good luck with that dibnlib.
Diane, I googled deer flies and found out that they are also called stouts, which I remembered from my childhood in rural Somerset. I had many a painful bite from them. Good that they will be hibernating soon.
Our day started off sunny but is now cloudy.
OH's graft is progressing fine, with new cells continually increasing, but he now has a sub conjunctival cyst in that eye. It may disappear of it's own accord, but he has to return in a month for them to check. If it hasn't cleared they will laser it. His glaucoma pressure has decreased, so the new regime of eye drops seems to be working. It was a long and tiring day as we were there for six hours, plus the three hours driving there and back. Thank you for all your good wishes, which I passed on to him.
George, What a fantastic meal. You obviously enjoyed yourself.
Heather, For someone, who insists that she is not organised, you seem to have everything under control, especially when you don't know what time your guests will arrive. I did laugh at your description of your OH's attire for the funeral, but I am sure he didn't appear to look out of place. You wouldn't allow it !!!
Rosy, I have heard of 'stouts' but I don't know where or when. There are plenty of deer around here, so I guess we must have deer and horse flies. I do know know a horse fly sting is painful and takes ages to heal.
OG, Your timetable sounds very full and tiring. The High Wycombe roundabout is notorious for traffic jams. Plenty of red kites to see though.{{ Hugs }} to yourself, EE and your family. Take Care.
Dibnlib, Loved the "diet". Hope your swim was quiet and successful. Sorry about your friend's mother. I hope it is not a bad hip fracture.
Annette, Enjoy your time with the family, but in those temperatures it will be energy sapping.
We had something to celebrate a few days ago. Our daughter is now a Consultant in a position and London hospital that she really did want to get. When she went for the final interview, she found that she was the only candidate that had been shortlisted, although others had applied. We are so happy for her.
I must go shopping.
BRENDA Great news for your daughter
EE hope you and your daughter have a good journey to Cambridge tomorrow.
The pool started off really busy, but I persisted as I had been told the swim/photo session would finish about 1100. After that it was lovly and quiet and I swam 60 lengths (3/4 mile) I did the same on Thursday so feeling smug!!!
Couple of recent pics of Bowie. Top one he is on window sill watching out for other dogs and cats.
Brenda, What a very difficult and worrying time your OH has had. Glad to hear that things are improving. Not an easy time for you, either.
Many congratulations to your daughter. As the mother of a medic, I know what an achievement it is to get to that level, and then to get the preferred position. Great news.
Dibnlib, I think you can feel smug after 60 lengths.
Dibnlib, As Rosy says, continue to feel smug. You do sound so much happier since you gave up that job, which changed so much from when you first joined them.
Rosy / Dibnlib, Thank you. I will pass on your wishes for our daughter.
Rosy, You will know how much work and extra fellowships the Drs must do, to achieve the higher positions and at the same time continue with their job. There are times that I worry when daughter looks so tired after the continuous hours that she works and then is expected to study or lecture on her days off. She wouldn't want to do any other job, though and loves her work.
Morning all: To bed earlyish last night only to be awakened by pesky horn on someone's car that went on and on and on - really for just about 7 minutes but seemed like ages. Just Googled the problem/solution in case I ever have to deal with it myself.
Brenda: Congrats to your daughter; that's brilliant to be the only one shortlisted.
dinblib: Hurray for quiet times at the pool.
Alan: It's a dog's life. :-)
Rosy: My granddaughter is an EMT on an ambulance in Arizona but is uncertain about going for full Paramedic at this point. She's also carrying a full load in college classes. She'll be at our house tonight and I hope to get in a few words about "taking time to smell the roses."
OG: Hope things go well with all your rushing about...
Just checked our weather forecast: Oh good, only in the high 80s today. :-(
ANNETTE a pesky horn going on for about 7 mins is an eternity!!!!
dibnlib: I found out that our car horn fuse is #14 in the fuse box under the hood!
If it's only supposed to be in the high 80s today, why are our neighborhood weather stations reporting temps in the mid to high 90s? :-((
