  • Good Luck, Linda. You may find you need a new lead  or charger !!!

  • Thanks Brenda:   The rather young man who served me looked at it and pronounced that the port which takes the lead is out of shape: did you put it in the wrong way up?   No!!  I said!!   He said that it can be fixed by soldering in a new port for the lead to connect to, but he had no idea if this type of tablet was a candidate for this, as the man who was the expert was away on a weeks holiday.  So I had to say I would go back in a week.  I don't want to go to another town to sort it, as I like to support local businesses.  He also had no idea how much it might cost.  So I will have to be patient and wait awhile.

  • Brenda: I love coffee -- coffee lattes, coffee ice cream, coffee-filled chocolates, chocolate-covered espresso beans, plain black coffee in the morning. But I think I'm going to take a pass on Mongoose Poo coffee. I guess I just don't have sophisticated taste. LOL LOL LOL

I don't talk on the phone while driving, either. My driving is bad enough when I try to apply my full attention to the task. :-)

My son and his wife have spent a few days in Bali. DiL sent me a text yesterday about Luwak coffee, which she tried. It is a coffee, which has been pre-digested by mongoose.......ie. It is picked out of their poo. A delicacy, apparently and retails for $$$ in the West. My son doesn't drink tea or coffee so didn't try it.

I really, really worry about the person who first had the idea for this coffee.  EEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Just on way out to see daughter, but here's a terrifying video taken from a car whose driver was trying to get out of Middleton, California, where one of the worst fires is burning (watch out for sweary words) www.laobserved.com/.../bad_bad_night_in_middleto.php

    Will catch up later.

  • Annette: I held my breath for the entire duration of that video. That is powerful and utterly frightening. Horrific for people and wildlife. I assume the guy made it out, because the video was intact.

    Best wishes to your daughter.

  • Blimey, Annette, that video is seriously frightening.  Not surprised he swore - I hate to think what I'd have been saying if I'd been there!

  • Annette, That really is a terrifying drive to watch. I can't imagine the fear that poor man must have been feeling as he fled for his life through that horrendous fire.

  • Diane, If drinking that coffee is sophistication, then please count me out. LOL

Linda, Oh dear. What a pain. !!!   S..'s law that people always seem to be on holiday when we need them.

  • Annette: Is this a good fire map? It seemed like the most up-to-date and comprehensive that I could find in a brief search, but you may have a better one.

Everyone: Just click on the map and move your mouse up or down to show more of the map.

You can use the + symbol on the top left to zoom in on Annette's area or other locations to show more detail.

You can click on a little fire icon on the map and info will pop up about that specific fire.
