Here is a little reminder of the Season

  • The photographer will still be out looking for ospreys to photograph at present, but I have PM'd him and asked whether I could snip a couple to post on here.  I dare say Jonathon at LotL will do a blog about this sighting as well.

  • Chris Wood has given permission for me to post some of his pics of Blue FR3(15) m, so enjoy!  Posted on 20 February

Well what a great day again.
We drove to Bulok, the next village to Kafuta, (Gambia) where we saw FR3 in December, to try and reacquaint ourselves with this youngster from LOTL who has remained in the mangrove area behind the village for the last two months.
We arrived at just after 10am and started to search the area, looking at every possible Osprey perch. After just over an hour we were just about to go to the next clearing, so I looked back one last time and there was an Osprey on the biggest dead tree, scope time!
Fantastic it was FR3 and we spent over an hour watching him feeding.
Great area for him as can be seen.

It must have been a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack!

    Ah ha!!

I imagine Chris and Fansu crept closer, and with the help of a super lens...

FR3 is certainly looking at home in his winter quarters.  Long may it last for another year.
