Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 30 August 2015

HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!

Last week's chat thread is HERE.

I'm going to carry over Annette's links for the California Condor webcams (because I'm enjoying watching the funny looking fellas): Ventana Wildlife Society nest and feeding cams and Sespe Condor Sanctuary nest cam .

Also, Explore.org has a lot of interesting cams right now: underwater whales; sharks; the Grand Cayman reef; various underwater cams at Long Beach, California; grizzly, panda, and polar bears; puffins; a hummingbird nest; penguins; auroras; and various Africa cams. I like to watch some of them while meditating. Explore's Hawaii cams might be interesting over the next 2-3 days as Category 4 Hurricane Ignacio approaches from the east and tracks just north of the Hawaiian Islands, causing very high surf.

Everyone have a great week!

  • Dibnib, HeatherB, I remember driving up with my mum and dad to Scotland years ago, albeit at around 6am, but the journey was lovely in the early morning light.  Hope OH does get his hours sorted out and he can enjoy more time with you. Enjoy your hols.

    Hello to anyone I've missed.

Just watched the highlights of the Edinburgh Tattoo - fabulous as usual. Would love to get up to see it some time, maybe one day!

Off to the gym as usual tomorrow and in the afternoon have been asked to stand in for our chairwoman (I usually do when she is away) so looking forward to that. Our womens' meetings get underway for another session tomorrow at church. Can be quite interesting.

  • Dibnib - take heart, visiting maybe stressful as I found when I could get up to visit my mum , but just knowing that I made the effort helped me. Its not easy. My brother use to visit her every day, don't know how he coped, but he did.  She may not know you but she will feel your presence I'm sure.

  • OG - that meal sounded very tempting - he made good use of the ingredients that were supposedly available in wartime.

  • Heather – I too had forgotten OG’s recipe. Thank you for nudging me to re-browse my recipe file.

Annette - Some overdue replies. Yes I did get a kettle. It seems so heavy but it does have a window to see water level. I rarely boil more than the minimum. I haven’t heard of au pairs here. Dau can’t afford paid nanny help. Miss3 will start kindergarten next year, 2 days a week plus 1 more alternate Fridays. She doesn’t want to put kids in Child Care and go back to work as MissJ would not get the help her reflux needs. Next Paed visit soon.

OG – MissL now sleeps in portacot in Miss3’s room. MissL is sleeping better, not being woken by MissJ who wakes 3-4 times a night. The twins still need daytime naps. They are between 1 and 2 naps. The days when they only have one, they are beside themselves, overtired, unable to eat.

Hello to everyone. Not enough days in my hours to respond individually.

S-i-l has the flu B strain. I dread what will happen if Dau gets it too. They sent out an sos Sunday but everyone had excuses not to help, so how could I refuse my usual nanny day yesterday. Luckily it was a warm day (20C) and the kids enjoyed being outside. Today, the first day of spring, and it is overcast with showers later.

  • Evening all:

dibnlib:  Suspect your OH will continue to get calls as long as he feels the need to help. Be sure to turn his phone off as soon as he gets home on Wednesday. Your plan to stay in a hotel sounds smart. In addition to getting a good night's sleep, you'll have a place to retreat from the (completely understandable) stress of visiting your Mom. Hope this trip isn't too difficult.

OG: Englandshire? Haven't heard that before.  :-)  The wartime menu sounds pretty familiar; too bad you couldn't stay for tastes.  Doubt your comment about the migrants could offend anyone. The images of whole families fleeing their homes in search of a better life is hard to watch. We are so very lucky to be living in stable societies.  Where are your missionary friends off to?

AQ: Oh dear, fingers crossed that Dau misses the flu! Didn't realize MissJ had a reflux problem. Hope the year to Miss3's kindergarten goes quickly so Dau can get a glimpse of the future (albeit far off). How are you and hour OH feeling?

Just watched the first episode of Big Blue Live. The segment on  it being a difficult year for seals was certainly borne out by the huge number of young seals rescued up and our coast this year. The shelters were all jammed and they were trucking them hundreds of miles to other marine rescue facilities.

Oh. I see I have to sign in; well of course, it's Monday.

Off to friend's house for coffee and natter tomorrow. Have a good Tuesday everyone with very best thoughts for Margo.

  • Good morning, all, and a very happy 6th anniversary of the Weekly Chat!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Darn, I missed it!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY for yesterday, LINDA!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • THOUGHTS and PRAYERS for MARGO today.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG   Fri we fly to Budapest. We are sticking to the original itinerary, unless we are forced to rethink when in Budapest.

  • Good Morning Everyone. No thunderstorms or rain today, thank goodness. Not sure when we will be able to cut the grass, as it is so wet.

A busy day in the house for us. The washing and HW has caught up with me :-((

{{ HUGS}} Margo. I do hope there is good news for you.
