HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's chat thread is HERE.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week, especially OG and Eagle-Eye, who are on holiday.
I had a wondrous experience on Thursday. Temps had cooled a bit, and it was very windy. I went outdoors, just to check my patch. I saw R. T. Hawk come from the direction of the creek flood plain. He was riding the thermals and soaring around and around. If a bird can look happy, he did.
Shortly, his big pale mate came from the same direction. She, too, was floating gracefully on the thermals. She saw me and stared at me for a minute or so, then she started soaring downward, floating in circles in my direction. She kept watching me and moving closer. I froze and made sure she could see my open hands (so she'd be reassured that I didn't have a gun).
She descended quite close to me, and I thought for a moment that she was going to come to me. I thought about holding my arm out to see whether she'd land, but I was afraid I'd scare her. She never screeched at me, and she wasn't diving aggressively -- just floating above me and looking at me curiously. Finally, she caught a thermal and lifted back up into the sky.
R. T. Hawk had been unconcerned, and he was soaring over the creek. His mate followed in his direction, and then they flew toward the ridge together.
I was very honored to see her so close.

The annual Perseid meteor shower will appear on 11-14 August. The waning crescent moon guarantees dark skies, so the meteors should be dramatic. Folks in the northern hemisphere should see 50 meteors per hour, with a third of that number in the southern hemisphere. Most of the meteors can be viewed in the wee hours before dawn, but you could get lucky and see a beautiful earthgrazer in the earlier part of the night. Info HERE.

Poor Margo and her OH have another water leak in their hall. They are waiting for British Gas/ Dynorod. Their carpet is ruined. Margo is feeling even more stressed now. Everything crossed that the problem is found quickly and solved.
Brenda: Poor Margo! Just what she and her OH don't need at this point. Do wish there was something we all could do other than sympathize. I know you'll pass our best thoughts for an easy fix. Thanks for keeping us updated.
Good grief! Just scrolled back up the page and noticed I'd missed a bunch of posts. Will answer them later.
Margo, I'm so very sorry that you have to cope with so much. I hope the water issues can be resolved right away.

Diane thanks for the start-off, what an amazing experience.
Hope your brother manages to find an alternative route. It must be maddening when things like that happen.
Clare - sounds as though you had grandstand views of Dyfi and glad you were able to visit other sites. Its always nice that one can get away on their own without kids in tow, knowing they are safe in the hands of someone else.
Looks like it was windy again at Dyfi today and also at LG and LoTL.
Thanks for all news so far.

Very pretty Lindybird. I am using red squirrels for my background at present. The LOTL Wildlife group has one or two members particularly who post pics they've take of red squirrels and there are some super ones. Have asked them if I can put them in a folder so have permission.
dibnib nice to hear that you had a lovely walk. Its always nice to have a friend like that. I am afraid I tend to talk too much but my friend is always willing to listen. I only see them at church and its the only time I get to really mix with the fellowship there that's why I make up with all the talking. Wonderful to have friends like that. Lovely pics too and of the flowers.
Been cloudy with very little sunshine and just a sprinkling of rain here. Rest of the week is dodgy I believe, we'll have to wait and see.
Off to the gym tomorrow, can't go Thurs as OH is having his car serviced. Also away for the weekend in Manchester with Dau visiting my brother.
Evening all:
Dibnlib: I'm sure your church friend was relieved at your reassurances; she sounds like a really sensitive person. Lovely flowers (and pix from your walk).
Diane: Missed the "live" lettuce tasting but did see the replay on the evening news. Oooh, pizza. Do you have a local place; we don't have it that often, but when we do we typically get DiGiorno's.
Have a nice Tuesday everyone.
Lynette: Enjoy your weekend trip to see your brother!
dibnlib: Lovely photos you posted. I love that lamp that is sitting on your table beside the flowers.
Clare: Wonderful photo that you use for your background!
Lindy: Those flowers are lovely, so delicate. I'm so very glad that you were able to find the silver bracelet that meant so much to you. Wonderful! Glad about your tablet, too.
Heather: I hope your son and family enjoy Disney World and the beach.
Brenda: I enjoyed the NASA lettuce tasting coverage, too. LOL
Annette: I hope your sciatica improves soon. Hate to think about you being in pain.
Talked to my brother this evening. He's coping with his commute okay, but people have been caught in 3-hour traffic jams trying to drive around Lafayette. My brother has had serious health issues, so the timing is awful for both his move and the bridge failure.
Hope everyone has a good Tuesday.
Good morning, all! How nice to be back online - our whole area's internet access crashed yesterday morning and it was still down last night. Heaven only knows what happened there.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
My friend hadn't realised how down I had been although she realised I had missed church. Having heard I had given up work she sympathised and definitely thought I had done the right thing. OH was in the shop yesterday as a zip on trsrs had broken. He saw the manager who didn't even think to ask how I was!!!!! DIANE thanks for complement on tablelamp.....bought locally at Brodie where they have some really lovely things. Going to have my first swim in a while....just a few lengths methinks.
