WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, AUGUST 2, 2015

Hallo all:  Happy New week.

Well, what can I say? I can't even do stupid links these days; no idea why things aren't linking but life is too short to fret about it....

Rita is doing her knee exercises, which aren't the best part of her day, but she'll get there we know.

OG: I've taken the liberty of copy/pasting your anniversary dinner menu for all to enjoy vicariously:  "Had a great meal at a country house hotel not far away.  Even the bread rolls were wonderful - fresh-baked and therefore really crisp, not hard (I can't usually eat what are normally referred to as "crisp" rolls!).  OH started with soup while I had a terrine of roasted vegetables; we both had beautifully roasted pork loin, with a theme of peas running through it: pea mash, pea puree and mange touts, as well as roasted root veg and garnished with a wee "haggis bon-bon" (breaded haggis).  OH decided in sticky toffee pud to follow - pleased I didn't as it had a fig in the middle which I would not have liked to find in there!  I had the most wonderful chocolate fudge cake ever - so beautifully light, whereas I usually find it very heavy.  J is out at a barbecue this evening so it was nice to have a meal out on our own but without leaving him out."   All sounds yummy (though not sure about the breaded haggis).

Brenda: I too am wondering how many floors up your son and DiL are in their new apartment.  Have you started looking at airfares yet?  OG has info on the Canada cake on last week's thread.

bjane: Hope you're too busy to post for all the right reasons.  Take care; good to see you.

Margo: Hope you feel up to dropping in this week.  Is your sister still popping by?  Hugs to you.

Earth to Diane!  Please call home.    :-))

Fountain is behaving itself as I type; it usually goes about three days before pooping out. Am prepared for investigative antics next time.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

  • Heather, I haven't spoken to Margo, recently. She doesn't feel she can cope with conversation on the phone, as she is too emotional, but she has sent me a couple of emails. This morning's message that I posted was via an email, which she asked me to post.  She has probably noticed that you have been busy with your family.

  • And so I have been, BRENDA! Busy +++

As long as MARGO has some channel for communication with us, that is all that matters. I guessed that she wasn't up to too much live talking, as I said, but didn't realise that she didn't feel up to phoning at all. What a pity but here are lots of loving thoughts coming your way, MARGO from Invernessxx

  • I was sorry to see that Cilla Black died. A genuine personality from the sixties.

Heather, Margo had a week with her OH and then her sister and niece have been spending time with her. I have told her to ring when she feels able, even if she is worried about being too emotional.
I did laugh at your OH emigrating. I have never met him, but I felt pretty sure that he would never leave Scotland. It would be good if your summer improved though. Surprisingly, as I didn't notice it was forecast, it is raining here at the moment.
Enjoy your lunch with your daughter. I don't know about the travel insurance, but I think your daughter would probably prefer not to travel abroad with Amy, until she is confident about her treatment. Hope they can think of something they would like to do, or visit, that is not too expensive for them though.

  • After the recent non appearance of sunshine, my OH has been muttering about having "a few days in the sun" after our son's wedding in mid September. Originally, we said that we would just have more time in Wales plus maybe a short trip to somewhere else in the UK, this year.  But now he's asking me what Offers we've had from the holiday companies, so it may be on the cards that we pop off to somewhere warmer - I'm not going to object!!  It's certainly been strange, seeing as we started July with the hottest July day ever recorded.

I was sad to hear about Cilla Black - she was young to go suddenly like that, although I got the impression that she hated the ageing process.  So many of her friends have spoken very warmly of her, she must have been a good friend - what better legacy to leave.

Diane:   Poor you, what a shock to find your computer in such a state. And how annoying.   Hope the new one is just as good. Your visit and dog sitting  sounded rather hard work, too.  Hope things settle down for you, now.

OG & E. Eye:   Happy Anniversary to you both, belatedly.  My mouth watered at the description of your lovely meal.  I would have so enjoyed that!

  • I must buckle down tomorrow to all the jobs waiting for me here.  The garden is growing but some things already need pruning back. I have a lot of things, such as the photograph sorting, half done.  Usually I also think of Christmas Card making in July and I hate leaving it until October then rushing it, so will try to find a few hours to look at possibilities of design - preferably with little work involved but an impressive finished product, LOL!!

I will try and read back some more of what you have all been up to in these last few days, but can't promise replies to everyone. I see that there have been lots of posts!  Off to bed now as its been a long day.

  • Tonight's message from Margo.

    ...........................

Had another blood test this afternoon and the level had increased slightly. We got to the hospital at 3.00 to get the blood taken so then hung around having a cup of tea before we went over for my chemo. What a nightmare we waited just over an hour as they would not dispense the prescription until blood results came back. Had an appointment with my doctor about the thing on my head and he wants to refer me to have it checked out. Doesn't think it is a cancer and I will probably wait a while for that appointment. He also discussed my prognosis and said that when the various counts drop it can happen quite quickly. Not the best news again as my HB has dropped the last couple of times. When we reach a stage where the chemo stops working they will give blood transfusions as long as possible to help with shortness of breath. I also mentioned that I wanted to be at home and he said that wiill be alright as they will be able to provide the necessary care. All in all very worrying and he told me to ask the consultant about how long this process will take. As you can imagine I am trying my hardest to be positive but it gets ever harder.
Thanks to everyone on the forum for thinking of me and when I get over the shock will try and do a post. "
    ...........................
  • I will be speaking to Margo and I know that she does read all of your messages and really does appreciate your friendship, hugs and best wishes.

  • {{{BIG HUGS}}} to Margo.

Thank you Brenda for keeping us connected. I'll be back later.

  • Evening all: Too hot here. Was wilting so went off to wonderfully air-conditioned yoga class to find the a/c/ had, in fact, broken down.  Arghh. Instructor, thank heaven, decided to do a really low-key class with all the fans going full tilt.

Margo: I do believe you've had setbacks like this before and things have stabilized. Please keep that in mind and don't despair.  Huge hugs to you!

    Take care all.

  • Good Morning, All.  Dull here but I dare not put out my laundry as showers expected - ugh!

Thanks to Brenda for transferring the message from Margo.  Margo, it sounds as if the medical people are all on your side and doing everything possible: I do think they are wonderful in this country.  I know its easy to say, but try to keep your pecker up, and maybe you'll find you can be more optimistic soon.  I also know that your wonderful OH will take good care of you.

    EXTRA BIG {{HUGS}} TODAY.
