Hi All. Lovely Northern Lights, June--thanks! Willow, we went to the WWT at Arundel on Sunday afternoon and there were lots of Swallows sitting in a huge willow tree and making diving flights from there over the scrapes. It was a delight to watch. Stocking up for the next big push? Once home, I read the Osprey Sightings thread and an Osprey was seen at Arundel in the morning...oh well. But we did see two Peregrines sitting together high in a dead tree on the hill next to the reserve and a Buzzard, and I saw a Red Kite on the drive down. You don't often see a Red Kite from ABOVE(!) while it is soaring, but we were on a hill and the bird was soaring over the valley, below our level--wonderful to see!
Kind regards, Ann

LENGTHY NEW POST ON THE MAIN BLOG
Good morning all. Nice to see young ospreys still about! Hello Gardenbirder, I spoke too soon about the swallows! Ysterday afternoon and today early ive seen a steady stream of swallows hundreds and hundreds and probably more. I believe they are migrating as all heading one way! Ive seen this about five years running, and wonder if its because being in Kent probably heading towards the channel! Felt quite sad!
Lucky you to see the peregrins. Shame you didnt see the osprey though but just as nice to see the peregrins and buzzard :) I love all birds of prey. Weve been lucky 2 years running have had buzzards breeding nearby and the have been a real joy to watch running around in the field. They are very noisy and could be heard crying for hours. Lately they have not been heard or seen much so maybe they have gone to find their own territories?
Thank you June for the headsup on the latest blog. I had missed that completely. What lovely photos of the team!
I thought that you and any other US friends may be interested in this article in a British newspaper, The Independent. The BBC is to launch a paid-for streaming service in America.
