Bynack was 2011, along with Tore and an unhatched egg. Thanks to Keith's suggestion I keep a notebook and a few notes. They help.
I agree that the leg rings very diffcult to see well enough to ID.
If our friend's theory that sat tags cause problems, then the osprey we named should have a better chance of survival.
It cant be proved but Im sure it has something to do with it. Rutland has a good return rate for their young 2 from one "litter" this year from 2012. 1J and 3J hope im right! Many others too. I accept the mortality rate is very high for juveniles specially first 2 years.
Breagha has recently moved this far south -- from green to green.
June thanks for Breaghs update. Looks like hes finally heading South. Hope he comes back to LG next year but not as an intruder!
Rutlands 30(05) is already nearly home last she had 700 miles to go! Shes an amazing lady :) I feel for all these first time migraters having to suddenly fish for themselves and all alone!
More pics of the Colorado train - Fred Shaw's of course.
June: Seems like the Gabfest is going on sabbatical! Just wanted to invite any die-hard Gabfest folks to tootle over to the Weekly Chat if the mood takes them. You may not know what the heck we're all on about half the time, and it's certainly not osprey-centric, but the welcome mat is out.
Thanks Annette for your invitation. I know it is well-intentioned.
Truth is, we are "on sabbatical" because while we have lost a few permanently (death, etc) many more former Gabbers have already switched off to the numerous threads on the RSPB Forum.
You're welcome June!
