So the Queen is in Scotland this month. Lucky Queen!!!!
I Have been enjoying her many photos posted on Facebook. Love her hats and colorful outfits. Does she ever wear the same one twice? But even so I am noticing a similarity. Always the pearls and pin and hat with flowers in the same spot.
Good afternoon all. A very interesting blog by Emyr at Dyfi about Blue24. Interesting that 10 fledglings are necessary for future success. I remember when Blue24 and Dai paired for a short time and were very quickly sent packing by Glesni! I did feel so sorry for both but Dai Dots moved very quickly to find a mate and nest and got on with having his own offspring all in the same year! Hats off to him! Blue24, her time will come :)
I wonder what it is that makes certain nests so attractive and as there are so many constructed platforms. As you say the one now Dai Dots uses was vacant for a long time. I think it will take many years for ospreys to colonise a wider area but im sure it will happen. The futures looking bright for them. Nests are increasing at Kielder and have fledged juveniles successfully. Would be great to see Gwynant return!
Keith I forgot to mention where this railway was it is indeed the Dart Valley between Buckfastliegh and Totnes. A short line only takes 30 minutes calling at Staverton. It runs along the beautiful river Dart. This is near my family home and worked nearby for many years so have a sentimental attachment to the area .
Also there was a beer and cider festival under way at Staverton :)
Many revellers all over the platforms and sidings(not in use at the time!)
June I think the queen would probably wear outfits more than once Im sure as she is known for her "thrift" She is indeed lucky to be spending time in Scotland!
Id like to visit LG maybe next year if time allows. Would love also to go on that railway Keith, that would be spectacular :)
Breagha's travels as of August 22nd, Green mark points line of next zoom in.
Gopod evening June thanks for pic of Breaghs travels. I wish him luck on his southward migration. Am so pleased he made a spring Northward migration even though only to France as long as he is well its good news. So much heartbreak for LG with so many losses or presumed losses :( I still wonder about Drui though he was not tagged so one day he may be spotted!
That should read good evening LOL!
Yes, and I still wonder about Garten (2009) and the three (2010) that did not get ringed or even named.
Was that the year Bynack was born I only started following them that year. I cant remember the others at all. I know a certain friend of ours loved Bynack! He went missing but his transmitter started working again much later in the Cape Verde Islands, but nothing since :(
It must be very difficult to spot a leg ring so its possible they are still alive who knows? Some have appeared after assumed dead!
