THE LG OSPREY GABFEST FOR AUGUST and SEPTEMBER, 2015

  • There are still birds on these nests.

FR4 still lands on LOTL nest although both the other juveniles have departed.

SR3 is still at Manton Baywith Blue 33 (Male) and Unringed Female (She stays late).

At Dyfi they have just reported that Monty (Male) and his girlfriend Blue 24 are still around. Glesni (Blue 12) is away after many re-appearances. Think the young may all have departed now in the last few days but will need to check.

Glaslyn LIVE Streaming has just started and these being a very late brood may be around during September.

A moment ago an empty Glaslyn Nest but someone has left a fish - I am sure they will come back for it.

Plenty of Ospreys around locally so not yet saying Goodbye for Winter and still some visits to do.

For the first time in over four years I will not open a new month for the Gabfest.  With the Loch Garten nest now well and truly empty, I will let this thread rest for the winter.

I may open the Gabfest in December to see if anyone is interested in a wee bit of Christmas cheer.

I will continue to follow Breagha and hope to see EJ and Odin back home come spring.

Lets Hope for BETTER NEXT YEAR.

  • Found an Osprey (BLUE 4R) on a Nest in the Snowdonia Sunshine. Very Quality Live Streaming. Gaslyn has come some distance this season.

I think S3 was on Manton Bay nest today also.

  • Good afternoon all Just caught up with news as have been visiting my Dad in Devon. Looks like Maya Blue33 and S1 andS2 have left on migration :( Only S3 remains ans I expect it wont be long before she too goes. Its been a great year for them specially good news after an empty nest last year!

  • Sorry this thread is resting for now June I know not many post on here now infact its mostly you me and Keith! I still enjoy posting hereand will continue to do so even if theres no response or interaction.I hope there will be some pics of Xmas cakes and trees in the long dark days of winter. It certainly looks like the Manton Bay Ospreys have left leaving S3 behind. Woint be long before S3 takes the hint and goes as we have been discussing on Rutland Thread.

I will say - I am sure this family of 2015 will have a special place in your osprey history having visited and watched them all. I do hope that in a few years you will hear of S1 - S2 or S3.

Most of the ospreys I watch - I do not know of their ring and after they go just assume that in a few years time they are flying around in Scotland intruding and generally being a pest.

My favourites this year have been at Strathallan - Since being allowed back into the estate I have gone up regularly and watched these learning their flight manouevers. They survived Noel Gallachers High Flying Birds and was pleased to see them High Flying themselves. Appears they have left - saw last bird last weekend and think it was the male just flying past the treeline - Posted on T in the Park.

  • Keith, something of a miracle that nest was a success after the apalling disturbance! As June once said they can take more human disturbance than we assume. I wish them all a safe journey and yet more healthy juveniles to add to the population, all in all a fantastic season. Such a shame for LG but will look forward to a successful season next year.

I think these Rutland Juveniles will be special to me and hope to see them return in the future.

  • Willow I love you & Keith both!!! As long as we have two Gabbers like you The Gabfest will survive!

As for me, I am weary.- -  weary of computer problems: major cams and videos/youtube that disappear for weeks at a time; slow typing, etc. I'm weary of empty nests. I'm weary of talking to myself for days at a time. Most of all, I'm weary of finding some insignificant, irrelevant picture to post just to keep us on the front page,  Never again will I "bump up" this thread.

Please post here whenever you want. I will do likewise. We all know how to find this thread on the back pages.  The Gabfest is not closed, just resting.

  • I may be gone for a while (or maybe not) :), so will close today with a little music --- my favorite song Wild Mountain Thyme, grows around the blooming heather. I expect the Scottish hillsides are purple with it now.

  • Hi June, Willow, Keith and anyone lurking.  Sorry to hear this thread will be resting for a time.  Apologies that I have been too busy with other things to contribute in recent months--not much time left after I have checked up on the several Osprey nests I have been following!  Not to mention that we have played amateur tour guide for a couple sets of visitors this summer, which takes a bit of time, too!  I have enjoyed reading this thread when I've had the time and especially when you post pics from the Cornell and other North American webcams, June, and when there is a music night or Christmas cakes, etc.  Sadly, we will be at a place with very poor internet reception over this next Christmas, but if you have cakes and music or something else I will be catching up when we return sometime after Christmas!  Happy Christmas to Everyone, well in advance!

    Kind regards, Ann
