WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, JULY 26, 2015

Hallo All:

Brenda: Sorry your celebration got postponed; hope your OH is doing better.

Heather: So, did the BBQ go ahead? Hope so.

Spent ages spreading mulch around the front garden this morning. Got totally filthy. Also was bent over under the olive trees much of the time. Rewarded myself with a very long rest in my chair in the garden; book and nap included.  Will probably topple into bed early tonight.

Here's to a good week.  Hope Margo had a fab time with her OH.

  • Good afternoon all. Hospital visits this morning and heamoglobin level has gone down again. Saw my consultant's Registrar this morning as she is on holiday and he reminded me gently that my problem is progressive. Not too worried at present but if it continues to drop they will do another bone marrow test To see what is going on. Not feeling quite as happy although I know and have known for a while it is terminal. feeling quite weepy I must admit. Added to this Billie is not too well and we will be taking her to the vet if there is no improvement by tomorrow. She is eating and drinking OK but is shedding lots of fur and is quite lethargic. Most unusually she doesnt want to go Out.

I did spend a lovely week with my OH and even though the weather was not brilliant at times managed to get out and about enjoying some good meals.

Thanks for all your posts and pics.

Hi, Margo.  That must have been a hard post to make - I don't know how on earth I would cope with knowing I was terminally ill and I think you do magnificently.  I hope Billie perks up soon as I know she makes a huge difference to you.

In the meantime here is the most beautiful osprey of them all:

And here is where she is at the  moment:

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Margo. We will speak on the phone. You have made quite a few arrangements for the future, so look forward to them. I am sure your Consultant will speak to you on the phone, if you feel it would help. She knows you and your case, better than the Registrar. XXX

  • Morning all:

Margo: You've had these ups and downs before but have bounced back to an amazing degree and, as you say, no real reason to worry now, although that's easy for me to say. It doesn't help that Billie isn't too well as you're so attached to her - or that you just had a lovely week with OH and now things are back to 'normal.'  Chin up ducky! We're all here for you.

Hi to everyone else. Friend is staying the night - she lives a couple of hours drive up north and is having a root canal in Santa Barbara coz her dentist doesn't like the "up north" options. This is her second and she found it hard to drive down and back up with three-hours of 'open mouth and drill' in between. Wonder what time her Novocaine will wear off....

In the meantime, doing the usual quick vacuum and dusting all the obvious bits.

  • Hello, All -at last I'm back.....      We had problems with our internet service & rang Virgin so after a few abortive attempts to get it going again, they agreed to send us a new Hub.  This arrived today and we spent a tense half hour installing it this afternoon.  It works OK, which is why I'm now on here, but now I can't get the WiFi bit to work so cannot get connected via my Tablet device nor my new phone.

Its been a frustrating hour or two to say the least......

Margo:   Sorry you've had disappointing news but as Annette says you might find that you will still bounce back from this. Also, have you thought that maybe Billie is picking up your mood from you, and if you are a bit anxious she may be moping (& moulting).  Animals can be very perceptive and you and Billie are close, after all.

Must go & cook dinner - not much has got done this afternoon!

NB:  We are off to Wales again for a short break on Thursday. Not packed anything yet!

  • Good to see you back on line, Linda. Have you "told" your Tablet and phone that you are on a new hub ?

  • Hi Brenda - just off to try another password.... I seem to have so many, for so many different reasons.  And we were given a temporary one to log back on with, which I found didn't work anyway!

EDIT:  It told us in the instructions that we would have to re educate the new hub to our other devices.  Thanks for telling everyone on here, where I was in my enforced absence!

  • Hello all

MARGO- this condition has its ups and downs as you know better than any of us xx You are being so brave, knowing that this illness will shorten your life, but so far the chemo is doing the job and for that, you, your OH and all of us here are grateful. I'm glad to hear that you had a good week with your OH but sorry to hear that Billie is not so well.Keep us informed.Biggest of hugs from here, we will speak on the phone, email me to arrange a time.

  • LINDY- Welcome back! I always look in early mornings and even if I'm still waiting for the caffeine to kick in, usually know that ANNETTE, you, and often CLARE,have been online. A great start to the day :-)

BRENDA- I hope that your OH is feeling a bit better. If he had gone to the doc when you suggested it.....

We haven't heard from DIBNLIB in a while. I hope that all is well with her and her OH.

Weather continues to be miserable here. Youngest daughter took her little ones shopping this morning in the pouring rain. Essential school uniform stuff. They met eldest daughter and Katie for lunch. OH and I just mouldered in the house in the dreich weather and reminisced about childhood summers, when of course, it never rained !!
