WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY JULY 19, 2015

Happy New Week all:

Rumbles of thunder all day, but it seems to be passing just east of us. Apparently our share arrives tomorrow evening.

I seem to have lost the Rich Text formatting option - and the text has gone weird.

OG: Apparently Aldi is going to open some stores in California. Your lunch at the Old Toll House sounds wonderful.

HEATHER: Here's a very long link to a film of passengers arriving g to board the Lusitania on its last voyage. Extremely clear images for the times. www.criticalpast.com/video/65675040085_SS-Lusitania_passengers-arrive-at-dock_passengers-aboard-SS-Lusitania_author-Elbert-Hubert

LINDYBIRD: My hammock, which as a large metal frame, is stored in the garage in favor of my zero-gravity folding chair, which is so much easier to put up and then away.

LYNETTE: Home delivered groceries sounds wonderful, except I buy from three separate stores and like to see/feel the veggies/fruit.

  • Good Morning, All. Had a busy day yesterday, popped out and bought my new camera (A Sony something-or-Other) which looks scary as it has different settings from what I'm used to. Wanted to get it so that I could get used to it before The Wedding. Been charging it up but not used it yet, as was busy catering for our Eldest, who came to stay the night. Bonnie was pleased to see him!
  • See AQ has popped in whilst I was writing: looks good, AQ, glad you had some pleasant 'me time'. I may well have to come over to Aus to inspect the cuisine!!
  • Interruption whilst I investigated some howling: Bonnie saw some pigeons through the window and was expressing displeasure! Annette: You got it about the shoes, my OH never recognises new ones, but hasn't failed to notice that there are an awful lot of them around the house, LOL!    Millionaires shortbread has a layer of toffee on top, plus chocolate - indescribably gorgeous & moreish!

  • Heather - your Afternoon Tea sounded lovely, probably all the more so as it was unexpected! OG - Hope you enjoy your extra Free Time whilst J is away.
  • Good morning, all!  I'm next at Minsmere on Thursday - Woo Hoo!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Hooray, Clare!   Looking forward to hearing about it, afterwards.

Dull & grey here:  have been spreading some pebbles around in the front garden to tidy up now that the project with the front hedge is ended. (we don't have lawn as its only small, so I have pebbles where the lawn should be and grey slate around the edge).  Now it all looks respectable, and we just have to wait for the hedge to grow to the desired height.

I had a morning drink, and gazed out of the window just in time to see a Jay flying across the garden - later he returned in the other direction with a friend.  Lovely birds, especially in flight.

  • Great, CLARE! Hope that you have a lovely day.

Nothing much happening here, very reluctant gardeners as weather is strange. Windy, cloudy, sunny, cool, warmish - you get the picture! We did the essentials and no more.

AQ- I like the sound of your last day of nannying. Typical that the little ones played up when Mum came home. I have never had any problems with the grandchildren when they are here but I don't think it is anything to do with skill. Probably their parents have warned them that I'm a force to be reckoned with and have told them dreadful tales about the consequences of naughtiness when they themselves were young!

  • Hallo all: A busy morning, then some yard work this p.m.

Clare: Have a wonderful day at Minsmere!

  • Good Morning: I too, will be thinking of Clare today at Minsmere. I have boring chores to do but will be looking forward to the end of the week when we are off to spend a day at the Tatton Flower Show. Dull here again and a little damp.
  • Morning, all.  I'm at Minsmere tomorrow.  Thanks for the kind thoughts!
