Where we are now, according to our MOFFER:
They, especially EJ are spending less and less time on the nest. In fact she only comes when she wants fish, and even then she's started landing on the campost, or to defend the nest from female intruders.
Odin bless him, is still living in hope I think. Skydancing, keeping the nest tidy, bringing in sticks and defending it. Even that seems to go in fits and starts now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nasty hail and rain yesterday, our birds not seen on the nest for many, many hours. We look forward to the sound and sight of Odin very soon this morning.
Hi CC - and all you posters that have been far more active than me, thank you. I agree, CC - really liked the direct gaze close up of Odin that Scylla captured.
I think Odin has a particulary fine, sharp bill that looks so distinctive against his white chest. I thought it was an Odin feature - I hadn't realised (until reading Dyfi ringing blog) that female ospreys have broader beaks than males!
I didn't realise that either BIRDSONG, but as females are generally larger, I guess it isn't too surprising. Just never thought about it!
Hi all. Odin's back :)
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
Still nest cupping - Odin is really putting in a lot of effort on the nest. Sad that we are not counting his fishing efforts for his chicks...
