Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey Topics), 5 July 2015

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is here.

I hope everyone is safe from the bad weather in the U.K.

Margo: Sorry it was so frightful for you.

Clare: Congratulations on your new opportunity at Minsmere. Enjoy!

Brenda: Sorry you lost your match with the men folks. :-) I'm sure your new roses are lovely.

Lindy: I hope you enjoy your time in Wales.

Annette: So glad you all had such a nice day at the beach.

Heather: I hope things are improving for your family in France.

AQ: I've enjoyed looking at your photos. I like the Koroit Library, the Cape Nelson Lighthouse, and the Portland Tram; also, I want to live in the little Kalangadoo Church with the green roof! Very lovely.

You might be interested in seeing this old Catholic church near me: see here and here. Built in 1886, it stands in the rustic, restored 19th century Billie Creek Village in Parke County. Also, here's the historic old Log Church, built in 1871, in what is now Turkey Run State Park/Forest near me.

Hello to everyone. I hope this post makes sense. My neighbors are blasting off huge fireworks. They terrify me. I hope they don't set the woods on fire. Poor, poor wildlife. I hate July 4th.

  • Thinking of Rita with her new knee. They don’t waste time these days getting patients back in their feet even if it is just hobbling with a walking frame..

I have a shortened nanny day as Miss3’s much postponed PlayDate is this morn. I am not expected until 11.30 am, but then Dau has a Physio appt. The last time I minded 3 kids in waiting room, 2 were not mobile. Shall I let them loose to investigate/deconstruct new territory?

  • Annette: Congratulations on your new car. It sounds perfect for your needs. And pretty, too!!!

  • Evening all: Grocery shopping this morning; home to put feet up and relax for a bit when who should arrive not 30 seconds later? Delightful Ms. D and her Mom. Leaped up to organize lunch, then granddaughter, Ms. D and I went off to the small Aquarium on the pier for touchy-feely time with various ocean critters before an  ice cream break. Home next so OH and granddaughter could go to photo exhibit at local library and Ms. D and I headed to a really lovely park in Santa Barbara. Main attraction is a massive, beautifully made and designed wooden fort-like open structure with masses of walkways, stairs, slides, twists and turns for kiddies to explore. Picked up Chinese take-out on the way home and now everyone has toppled into bed. I won't be far behind. Will see the duo off at the crack of dawn and then head back to bed.  Doc appt. in the afternoon; wonder if she'll mind if I turn up in my nightie...

AQ: Hope nanny day went smoothly.

Take care all and have a good Wednesday.

  • Good morning, all.  Thank you so much for all of your kind wishes to Helen - they're very much appreciated!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning. Just had a bit of a lay in, as very tired again last night after trying to catch up with everything. Hope that AQ manages her short Nanny Day, although she may have to be policeman for an hour at the physio! Should be interesting......
  • Got time now to read back - sounds like Annette has got her new car!
  • That was dramatic tale, DIANE - I'm so glad you didn't go in that direction! Hope the pilot is OK now, he was lucky not to be killed. ANNETTE - sounds as if you made a good decision re the car, hope you enjoy it! You are having a busy week, you will be tired after they all depart. HEATHER - Good that you got the boiler sorted, hope the family problems can be resolved. Not easy, these things, and such a worry.
  • Not replying to other posts, as there are too many - except to say, hope that Helen is alright today, CLARE, and thinking of both RITA and MARGO today.

  • Thanks, Lindy.  She's still not right - let's hope the doctor can shed some light on things tomorrow.
