HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here.
I hope everyone is safe from the bad weather in the U.K.
Margo: Sorry it was so frightful for you.
Clare: Congratulations on your new opportunity at Minsmere. Enjoy!
Brenda: Sorry you lost your match with the men folks. :-) I'm sure your new roses are lovely.
Lindy: I hope you enjoy your time in Wales.
Annette: So glad you all had such a nice day at the beach.
Heather: I hope things are improving for your family in France.
AQ: I've enjoyed looking at your photos. I like the Koroit Library, the Cape Nelson Lighthouse, and the Portland Tram; also, I want to live in the little Kalangadoo Church with the green roof! Very lovely.
You might be interested in seeing this old Catholic church near me: see here and here. Built in 1886, it stands in the rustic, restored 19th century Billie Creek Village in Parke County. Also, here's the historic old Log Church, built in 1871, in what is now Turkey Run State Park/Forest near me.
Hello to everyone. I hope this post makes sense. My neighbors are blasting off huge fireworks. They terrify me. I hope they don't set the woods on fire. Poor, poor wildlife. I hate July 4th.
AQ - great that you got your car back again. I like driving a familiar one. When we go on holiday, I crunch the gears and revv too much as its a strange car: my OH cringes! Hope the car servicing doesn't come in too expensive, it seems to get more so every time we go.
Clare: you came on whilst I was wittering. That must be a relief for you, I do hope that Helen gets through the day without feeling too much discomfort.
So do I.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Just popping in to say how happy I am to read that Helen is feeling better, CLARE.
Taking a moment to catch up on all your news. The days seem to be disappearing, working in the garden; meetings about new plans from builder for the garden next door and having to catch up with neglected HW. I have obviously been trying to watch Wimbledon too. I have a hairdresser's appointment this afternoon. The weather is blue skies and sunshine.
Clare, Pleased to see that Helen's problem has been diagnosed, but I do feel sorry for her. I hope she copes with her return to school.
I have read all your posts. Back later.
Good afternoon all a rather dull day here and it was rather wet first thing this morning. I seem to sleep longer in the mornings when the sun isn't shinning in to the bedroom but it does put me out of sink as the older I get the more I seem to need a routine. I was sorry to hear that Helen had been unwell but knowing what is wrong is some help as they can then alleviate the pain. The results of my scan are still with the consultants in Edinburgh so what they will decide is any ones guess. My SiL recovery has been great and her next check up isn't until December.
I am getting a visit from my son this weekend and he is taking me out for dinner tomorrow as a late birthday treat. He is arriving this evening but we are just going to have fish and chips as he is coming by train and trains are not always on time.
Hope Margo gets over her chemo session quickly and everyone else has a good weekend

Clare - that's great news, do hope she gets through the day feeling fine.
Lindybird - OH and your hard work has brought fruition to the front hedge, glad its looking great.
Another warm and sunny day with some cloud down here. Just about to go into the conservatory and read the paper. Too hot earlier on. OH watching the Test Match.

George - nice to hear from you again. Have a lovely weekend with your son.
AQ - glad to see you have your familiar friend back with you, just the service then - hope nothing major needs doing.
Nice to hear from George, and that your sis-inL is recovering well from her op, George. Sorry that you've not had the sunshine we eventually got, here. Hope you have a nice weekend: I adore fish & chips, and never think of it as "only fish & chips!"
We went dashing off this morning to a giant Shopping Mall called The Trafford Centre in outer Manchester, as my OH needed to be measured for his outfit for the wedding in Sept. Its a waistcoat and tails job, so he tried everything on, even though we don't actually know the colour of the waistcoat & cravat yet, as apparently its not been decided. He absolutely hates shopping, so of course loathed everything about the big shopping mall, but was also quite fascinated to see the colourful swathes of seething humanity there and it's fun to note the weird and wonderful things which people wear to go shopping! Amazing!
We got him measured up, then went into a huge Boots to get my latest photos put onto a disc: also managed to find a nice photo frame at half price, as I never have enough frames now, what with endless pics of pups and grandchildren!
Then he couldn't wait to leave!
I'm just having a practice as OG has asked me to detail how I put on pictures, and I just do it without thinking about all the steps these days. This is Bonnie, having come out of the sea dripping wet after trying to catch an Oystercatcher!
