HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here.
I hope everyone is safe from the bad weather in the U.K.
Margo: Sorry it was so frightful for you.
Clare: Congratulations on your new opportunity at Minsmere. Enjoy!
Brenda: Sorry you lost your match with the men folks. :-) I'm sure your new roses are lovely.
Lindy: I hope you enjoy your time in Wales.
Annette: So glad you all had such a nice day at the beach.
Heather: I hope things are improving for your family in France.
AQ: I've enjoyed looking at your photos. I like the Koroit Library, the Cape Nelson Lighthouse, and the Portland Tram; also, I want to live in the little Kalangadoo Church with the green roof! Very lovely.
You might be interested in seeing this old Catholic church near me: see here and here. Built in 1886, it stands in the rustic, restored 19th century Billie Creek Village in Parke County. Also, here's the historic old Log Church, built in 1871, in what is now Turkey Run State Park/Forest near me.
Hello to everyone. I hope this post makes sense. My neighbors are blasting off huge fireworks. They terrify me. I hope they don't set the woods on fire. Poor, poor wildlife. I hate July 4th.
Diane and Annette meant to wish you Happy 4th July , its a bit late but hope you enjoyed the holiday.
OG - it sounds like J has what we would call "Kid's Week" on the first week of the summer holidays. Dau's. takes place the second week this year but it is held in a local school with Bible teaching, fun and games, bbq mid-week and the concert service in church on the Friday evening. Sounds like J is going to have a lot of fun. Enjoy your afternoon tea.
Clare - hope you enjoy your volunteering experience.
Usual week of being at home or going to the gym. OH has a social meeting at lunchtime tomorrow to think of ways to draw more blind/sight problems into County Ground. A small team do commentary for the blind on match days.
Margo, thinking of you whilst you have your treatment.
HeatherB - do hope the family can sort themselves out and that the problems will become less! Hope your Dau and G.Dau enjoy their day with you.

Amazing game!! Great win for the U.S., which wasn't a sure thing at the start of the games. Four goals in the first 20 minutes! Phew.
OK, time to go cook dinner and have a glass of wine.
Wow. This is creepy. I need groceries, but I've been putting off going to town for them. I didn't go this morning because the fireworks kept me awake last night. So this evening I told myself I should go, but I was worried about traffic from the holiday and I talked myself out of it.
I just found out that a plane crashed this evening. It clipped high voltage power lines right at the very place where I turn onto the main highway into town from a county road. Good thing I didn't make the trip; I might have been right there under the lines!
The pilot was pulled from the wreckage and airlifted via medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital. I read that he was conscious and alert when they pulled him out of the wreckage, so he's probably going to be okay. He was crop dusting a cornfield. I don't know how he got out alive; the plane was demolished. I heard the helicopter go over.
Strange how life works. One simple decision...
Diane: You read about these kinds of things and it always makes you wonder. I'm assuming some live lines came down with the plane too (how did the pilot avoid being electrocuted if the plane hit power lines?) Anyway, sounds like he isn't in too bad shape. Maybe wear a hardhat when you head out for groceries?
Yeah, Annette, those lines that came down were hot. The crash caused a power outage over the area. I don't know how he avoided electrocution. I guess the electricity travelled around the shell of the plane, like lightning does. I hope the man will be okay. The power crew are still cleaning up and repairing over there.
Hope you had a good day with family!
Diane: Re the plane vs live wires, I was thinking it would be the same as lightning. Maybe wear rubber boots with that hardhat? :-) Nice afternoon and evening with family; nobody has got on anybody else's nerves so far - but there's till time!! :-))
Off to bed. Have a good Monday all and best thoughts to Margo this week.
Good morning, all. It looks like I'm not going to make it to Minsmere today as Helen isn't well - and three guesses where Limpy is? You got it.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Good morning
Just popping in to say that I'm thinking of MARGO and RITA this week. Fingers crossed that the norovirus stayed away from RITA.
Back later, all being well.
Good Afternoon Everyone. The sun is shining here today, after many hours of heavy rain yesterday. Our garden desperately needed the rain though. More rain for us tomorrow morning.
Thinking of Margo and Rita.
I have heard from Linda. She will be returning home tomorrow.
Sorry Helen is not feeling good , Clare and your Minsmere day has had to be cancelled. How good of Limpy to take your place LOL.
Heather, {{{ Hugs }}} A worrying time for you, but I am sure you will enjoy celebrating your granddaughter's Birthday.
Diane, So glad that you didn't go shopping. Intuition or ?, somebody was watching over you. I hope the pilot makes a full recovery.
Annette, You are having a brilliant time with your family. It is great to be able to join in with the young children and ' behave' childishly :-)))
OG, Congratulations to J on his appointments for the next school year. How is your hand/ finger since the injection ?
Even though I should have been doing HW, I am watching the Murray match.
