SUMMERTIME - and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the Flowers are high
One of these mornin's
You're gonna rise up singin'
Then you'll spread your wing's
And you'll take to the sky.
Good evening, all. Almost midnight in UK so everyone is probably abed and asleep. Hope y'all are having sweet dreams.
I don't know who I watched helicoptering today at Manton Bay, but they were ready to take off for sure. Much more energetic than the one at Dyfi, where the jumps were little more than toe stretches.
This day the Gabfest has been as quiet as the LG nest.
The wide camera is back at Manton Bay, for which I am glad.
It is getting dark at Manton Bay already and it is only 9:15. Are your days getting that much shorter already?
Good evening all. June the days are indeed getting shorter weve had the longest day :( I had an email from BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) saying that the satelite tracked cuckoos have already left the UK some are already in Africa also swifts have been seen in large numbers departing :( As I was driving through Canterbury this evening I saw and heard plenty of swifts screaming and swirling in a very thunderous sky!
Love the pic of EJ and Odind perfectly circular nest! Im so glad that they are still around and taking care of their nest. I had feared EJ might depart early as no chicks this year. Weve been spoilt with many beautiful close up captures of the perfect couple! I hope they will be successful next year as Manton Bay was after a disastrous year.
Willow, A question not bird related, but have you seen the stained glass exhibition in the Chapter House at Canterbury Cathedral? Not sure how long the exhibition is set for, but we very much enjoyed seeing it with our visitors in early June. Apparently the oldest stained glass in Britain, begun 1185/6!
Kind regards, Ann
Good evening all. Hello Gardenbirder. I have not been to see the stained glass windows I must go because I love stained glass!
No June tonight?
I saw a strange thing a blackbird was having a bath in our pond then lay down flat on the stone slabs around it with his wings spread out! It looked as though he was sunbathing. Then saw a great tit doing similar but actually rolling onto his side! Very funny to watch :)
I'm here, Willow - just not up to typing struggle. It was ok for a while, then "they" threw in more updates and computer had to be turned off. this always throws the type speed back to crawl. weird!
Hello Ann I too love stained Glass.
