SUMMERTIME - and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the Flowers are high
One of these mornin's
You're gonna rise up singin'
Then you'll spread your wing's
And you'll take to the sky.
Sorry Keith, didn't stay tuned in long enough to be able to answer your question. But he had been hopping bout for several minutes before. So my guess is the picture is before the fledge. I just need to watch more closely for longer periods as I miss all the good stuff. But I am back and forth all o er the house and networks trying to do 10 things at once.
No, mixed up againl. The helicoptering I saw was at Dyfi and only very short lifts, barely off the nest. I would think he is not quite ready to fledge just yet.
The minute or so I watched at Manton the birds were quiet, so maybe the standing one was resting after a fledge. I really don't know..
Oh Showoff! (Just a joke for when I am envious, don't get mad. :) Truly lovely pictures and what a lovely visit. Is Susan still enjoying the ospreys with you?
Both chicks are helicoptering, one well up in the air and across the nest. The other just flew away as I type. The third is out of sight behind the front two.
Yes Susan has always liked the ospreys - she just can not understand why I like them for hours. She saw opsreys long before me as she used to go every year as a child in the 60s with her parents to Boat of Garten.
She preferred The Otter yesterday on the west coast - so managed to get this at LOTL VC today for her (Already has a name Midge from Ring of Bright Water).
This is great helicoptering now ay Manton Bay, with jumps across the nest and/or high enough to take the bird out of sight. But this is post-fledge, is it not??
There are now two birds on the nest as the one who flew has not returned.
Otters also are cute to watch on TV and would be even moreso in person, I'm sure. I did some streetwalking in Oban and was very favorably impressed with the naturl scenery and with the architecture and gardens. Very charming.
