The month at Loch Garten began with a strange feeling of how was the summer going to be got in. Well that proved to be quite easy as Odin and EJ provided plenty of displays for the cameras.
Breagha excited us with his first trip north. In the event he came back to his favourite stopover site in France and there he has remained up to now.
The Loch of the Lowes family have grown quickly and now two have been satellite tagged and ringed with one being just ringed.
The Manton bay family have grown quickly too and have now been ringed.
The Dyfi nest has been another model nest and the three chicks are now approaching five weeks old.
There was great excitement at Glaslyn when first the sixth and then the seventh egg hatched. A unique nest.
White 14 a 2013 chick from Bassenthwaite thrilled us all with his grand tour of Europe.
Once again the nests at Kielder have done well with less chicks than last year.
On Monday 1st June tragedy struck at Hellgate Canyon when an ice storm damaged all three eggs, so another failed nest.
So it has been a very mixed year. Hopefully July will see this year's chicks fledged.

Clare Bailey said: So what exactly are the odds on all three chicks fledging on the same morning, with two of them going within a minute of each other? What a wonderful statistic for Dyfi.

It almost certainly has not happened before.
Kielder I had three in one day last year.
Well that has changed in a day. Dyfi had three fledges in 3 hours 17 minutes.
The amazing thing too is that Celyn and Brenig were only a minute apart
Hope I am allowed to post this. There's a rather nice decorative tile of an osprey in flight on ebay at present, auction deadline 20.05 BST TONIGHT. It is not my auction item I must emphasise. I am trying to declutter, so am going to try to resist.

If Ospreys don't have a sense of smell can they tell in some other way that an intruder has been in their territory whilst they have been absent from it. I.e would EJ sense the female intruder that has been there for the last two days if she hadn't seen it.
