Hallo all. Long day out; nice to see grandson and partner and see photos from the Bahamas. Had a strawberry waffle for breakfast, but was seriously taken aback by frozen strawberries - this in a town literally surrounded by strawberry fields and farm stands bursting at the seams with luscious ripe berries.

Evening all: Was pleased to see the Philae robot woke up and has now called home. What a thrill for the folks on that team.
Brenda: I think you should start planning that trip NOW to help you get over their actual departure. Let me know when that happens and I'll boo-hoo in sympathy with you. I left the UK when I was 20; have definitely had a good life here, but from several decades down the road, doubt I'd leave family to go so far again. I hate it that my granddaughter and Ms. D are just 500 miles away in Arizona - you get used to having kids pop in and being in the general area. But just think what it was like in the old days when younger family members went off on sailing ships to the other side of the world and you'd rarely hear from them. Now we have cell phones and - as mentioned - wonderful Skype!
Heather: Buy/wear something comfortable and versatile.
Rita: Fingers crossed you'll get the MOT and water tank sorted in the next day or two.
Margo: Hoping you're doing okay.
OG: Assume you're feeding the washing machine and playing catch up in the garden. At least you won't have to try to remember what you did coz you kept us so well informed while on the road.

Victoria trip saga continued. Day3 we headed south again but only as far as Heywood where we had a guided tour by the local aborigines. Archaeology has revealed a large settled Aboriginal community systematically farming and smoking eels for food and trade. We saw remains of their eel traps and one of their huts, the latter has been dated to 1,700 years ago. See here for more info & a video explaining the eel traps. My pics here.Budj Bim is the aboriginal name of the extinct volcano that whites called Mount Eccles. Browsing I discovered that Budj Bim has been suggested as a world heritage site.I had time during lunch stop to capture several Heywood churches. To be continued
AQ thank you for the pics and to RITA as well for the pics of the rooks. We get them in our garden too, only we thought they were crows. I have just looked at my bird book and they are remarkably similar so I think I can be forgiven for my mistake.

Got a wedding outfit, half price in Country Casuals sale, very chuffed! It's comfy, ANNETTE. A dress and shrug aka a bolero when I was young.
Grandson Callum has ordered the undertray for our car, he will fit it himself for us so more money saved, lol. He used his Audi employee discount, what a star!! He tells me that labour in his place is £95 per hour. Surely that can't be right?
So all in all my OH is a happy bunny. Except that he got the pharmacy to check his BP today and it was very high, much higher than last check at GP. He will see GP on Thursday.

Heather, Great that you have found a wedding outfit. Very rarely can any of us be that lucky, so quickly. Pleased to see that your lovely grandson will be able to repair your car and can buy the part at employee discount price. Hourly mechanic labour charges are usually the largest part of the bill. It also depends on the car maker, if you use their own garages, for service / repairs. If your car is still under guarantee, you have no choice.Sorry about your OH's BP. Hope it will settle down again.
Annette, I was thrilled to see that Philae got in touch with earth again. I forgot to mention it. I just hope it's batteries will be fully recharged, so that it will be able to send all it's stored information back to the scientists.
Rita, We are hoping to hear that your car has had it's MOT and your hot water cylinder has been replaced.

Evening all: Off to bed soon as we're having an a/c unit (a new type - ductless) installed in "my" room tomorrow and the guys are coming at 8:30. The room has a peak ceiling with no insulation and gets really hot - and stays hot - until very late in the evening during the summer. We've been talking about it for a couple of years.
Heather: Hurray for a comfy wedding outfit - on sale no less! And a grandson that can fix cars (we have one of those in our family). Any thoughts of getting one of those blood pressure monitors (made by Omron) for your OH? (We have auto-monitors in our pharmacies but I've heard they aren't always accurate.)
Brenda: I guess Philae can stay in touch as long as the solar panels get enough light to generate power and nothing else goes wrong. Amazing, isn't it?
