WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, JUNE 7. 2015

Hallo all!

  • AQ - they have been going over to Aus. for a few years now whilst they can to visit her son and grandchildren.  They also like to try and visit new areas whilst there.   This year they were going down to Alice and calling in at Kangaroo Dundees place to the sanctuary there. Also on the motoring trip from Darwin to Broom, visiting the "Bungle , Bungles" I think that's what they're called. They are doing a few internal flights with one major drive, all in 3 weeks.

Hello to Annette, Lindybird, Dibnib, Brenda, HeatherB - summer is on its way. We have to be hopeful.

  • Coffee morning wasn’t quite as relaxing as I hoped. Friend invited her Dau & 10-m g-son, so I didn’t get away from baby talk. Today besides the usual, I am helping my Dau make soup for twins b-party. Chopping veggies <sigh>

  • dibnlib: Like the sound of that risotto. So nice you could both get away and relax. When are you back to work?

Brenda: Still raining here. Love it. Was out and about and had a hard time watching water rush along the gutters and then disappear into the storm drains....wanted to chase after it yelling  "Stop!!  Come back!!"    Turned off our sprinkler system as drought rules say we can't use them for 48 hours after measurable rain, but methinks we can go a good week after this lot!  (As it is, we can only turn on sprinklers for so many minutes, two days a week - Wednesday and Saturday - and then only late night/very early morning).

Lynette: Bungle Bungles? Absolutely had to Google that - a mountain range no less; sounds like something out of Harry Potter. Australia has the most wonderful place names - very Oz-like!

AQ: Oh dear, your friend was probably desperate for some adult company..... And now you're making soup for kiddies party?  You do an awful lot!! Would you like to be kidnapped for, say, 5 years or so?

Diane: Did you see the video of Ceres taken by Dawn?  www.cbsnews.com/.../video-shows-unprecedented-view-of-dwarf-planet-ceres   Amazing.  I heard them talking about it - I think either on Science Friday or similar - and apparently the images will only get better as the spacecraft gets closer (at least that's what I understood).

Had nice breakfast with daughter; then took dog to vets for shot as daughter's appt. w/doc got delayed.  Then home for lunch and a nap. Took forever to drive through that part of the coast where the oil spill was; they've got lots of heavy equipment/agency vehicles parked and working along the road so it was down to just one lane with a very long backup. Still, we were on the cliffs beside the ocean, so could've been a lot worse.

    Still raining......   :-))

  • Good Morning, Everyone. Annette - glad that the rain I ordered, has arrived safely ;-) It must be a relief to give your garden a good drink at last.We are still enjoying sunshine here in this part of the UK, which is great for us to get some gardening done, but oh! how cold the wind is - like a winters day. Brenda - you're certainly having a major makeover in your garden. I'm sure it will all have been worth the effort, when its finally finished. AQ - Hope all the preparations go well, and then the birthday party itself. The last months must have gone by so fast for you, and your daughter.
  • Am off to get my haircut this morning, plus a little food shopping for our trip as we've decided to go to Wales tomorrow, whatever the weather. This morning it was predicted that after some warmth & sunshine on Friday, it will be stormy over the weekend!!
  • Meant to say: yesterday afternoon my OH shouted out, and I ran to look out of the window - there were a group of four swans, all flying in perfect synch, majestically crossing the sky above us - wonderful!
  • Lindy safe journey and hope the weather will be kind to you.

  • Thanks, Margo. Not to worry, we don't really mind what its like. We have a couple of plants to put in, into a rockery there which we look out onto from our decking area. Its communal but we have sort of taken it over, with spring bulbs, summer crocosmia, and tiny spreading geraniums. Hope you don't get the storms too badly at the weekend!
  • Quiet on here today.

Lindybird: Have a nice few days away.
