Yesterday EJ got a bit better class of fish-piece than recently heretofore (!?) She nevertheless spent an inordinate amount of time futilely fish-calling from the nest, while Odin preened on his various perches... sometimes she joined him. EJ's last visit to the nest was the last we saw of either bird, she left @ 2047hr.
It looks as tho we start the new day as we will, unfortunately, carry on:
IMAGICAT
CATCHUP
0323hr Odin landed , suspicious... after looking around he checked to make sure the egg hadn't come back! He stayed 5 minutes.
Back again - stayed on the right but looked over his shoulder and all around a few times:
Several minutes of outage, then EJ appeared - just for a minute:
Back again very soon!
I think Odin was skydancing but we couldn't hear him:
He soon arrived and postured lots, latterly on the edge of the nest where we couldn't see his face:
Not the take-off, just a flourish:
This eventually looked like a proper mating:
He flew straight off, EJ waited a minute and left.
The video for those with time and addiction - no buffering!!!
To make up for the absence of buffering, a quite-long outage followed, after which daycam had already come on.
Odin returned. something's definitely been up!
Big flap!
Off he went.
0513hr - EJ came to the nest hoping for a fish:
She waited nearly THREE HOURS, finally leaving @ 0804hr.
Well, Odin has certainly got June off to a suitably rampant start! Lovely footage, Scylla.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Thank you Scylla. Lots of action there. Some beautiful photos and video. I wonder if Odin spotted the Pine Martin.
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
No action whatsoever on the nest since 9am. ENS for nearly 3 hours :((
I wonder where they are? The camera view usually switches to them if they are in sight.
Odin heard me:
Intruder alert:
Flown.
EJ on the nest with fish, mantling and calling flown
EJ has arrived with a fish:
Mantling:
She's gone.
I'm intrigued Moffer, where is this pine martin, only ever seen a road kill one, sadly!!

It has been spotted since by the VC going in and out of the lower nest.
Here's a vid that Scylla did of the PM
Here's a daylight one too!
