WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, MAY 31, 2015

Hallo all!  Pies, champagne, snacks on some folks menus and yes, OG, you will get addicted to BBC Rewind.

  • Good Morning Everyone. Dry but quite cool this morning. No sunshine yet. Warning issued for tonight and tomorrow's gales. The house felt cold this morning as I had turned off the CH last night !!!

Heather, Good to see you back. I have never attended a Lutheran funeral service, but it does sound so beautiful and moving.

Tina, I have previously seen the Dame Judy Dench documentary. She i.e. a brilliant actress.  I have always loved ' Send in The Clowns'. I still have a copy of Judy Collins singing it.

Linda, That American lady,  marathon runner, is fantastic. She didn't appear to look or act, 92. Well done to her.

OG, I hope we are going to get a proper summer, so that your OH can wear summer shirts :-))

OH needs another eye test this morning. He was warned that his prescription could change again, as his graft settled. He did get new specs last January.

  • Thanks, Clare. Sometimes the more you look at a word, the weirder it seems! Hope you have a suitable jam jar ready for when The Day comes - hopefully not for a long while yet! (There's a poem in there, somewhere......hmmmnnn)

I sometimes get that.  Especially with onomatopoiec words like kerfuffle.

I await your next response with interest!  I notice you've said 'hmmmnnn'........should there be a Y in there somewhere?

I must confess I don't want a religious funeral at all....it seems wildly inappropriate for someone who was bodily thrown from a church in her teens.  I'd prefer people to hold a do somewhere like Felixstowe Ferry, with all my favourite gulls in attendance and a suitable (loud) live band playing.  Perfect.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Brenda - hope your OH gets on OK at the opticians. Its been a long haul for him, sorting his eyes out. Does anyone want a naughty puppy? Decided to do some much needed weeding this morning, as they are growing well in the present weather. As we came to an end, looked up to see that Bonnie was chewing something white on the lawn -- my indoor shoes which I had put on a chair, indoors. Had to chase her around the lawn for several minutes - threw my gardening gloves at her and then my OH blocked her escape so that I could get the shoe. Meanwhile, she ran off with one of my gloves....... Later, whilst eating lunch I saw her chewing - it was not a ball as I thought but the electrical plug which puts on the lights in a cabinet! Urgh!! Lots of sweary words today!
  • Sorry LINDYBIRD Just made me laugh Bit of a worry about the electric plug though

  • She loves cables, unfortunately :-( Also, I took quite a chunk out of my thumb whilst chasing her through our rose covered archway, ouch! Those thorns are sharp. Now asleep on a new bed which I've just bought from The Big River company, she jumped on it right away, then chewed it, then washed herself on it - now snoring gently!
  • Morning all: That 92-year-old marathoner didn't start running until age 76, so we all still have time to think about it, right?

Lindybird: My spelling has got a lot worse since I retired; I have to stop and think more often - and as you say, the more you look, the wronger it gets. :-) And - uh - no thanks; will pass on the delightful-at-a-distance Bonnie.

Heather: Sounds like a lovely simple funeral. Good you didn't spend too much time at airports this trip.

Clare: Just don't put Limpy out with the recycling. I always thought it was kerpuffle, so I can't even say it right.  Bodily thrown from a church?  You naughty person; that must've taken some serious provocation. :-)  I also like the idea of putting money towards a big party for friends and family rather than burying it in the ground. Besides, I've never like satin pillows...

    Off to start the day.

I complained that the Sunday school was boring.  I didn't even use foul language.

  • CLARE - how restrained of you!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • I certainly was, especially as I was a teenager at the time!
