There's an abandoned egg, and a giant slug on the Loch Garten nest tonight...
Well, OK, it's not a giant slug, but in fact a lovely brown trout that Odin brought for EJ yesterday evening about 9pm, but she never came to claim it.
It's clear now to all our relief that EJ has finally given up on incubating the unviable egg, whilst Odin seems to have rediscovered a desire to deliver decent sized fish to the nest, but a bit late...
Here is one of Moffer's lovely captures of Odin the Magnificent delivering the 'slug'
And because it was only posted at the very end of yesterday's DU, but you wouldn't want to miss it, here is Birdie Num Num's video of Odin's earlier appearance on the nest around 7pm, in lovely evening sunlight
Glad tidings of brand new osplets at both Loch of the Lowes and Manton Bay are tinged with sadness that we won't be seeing any Loch Garten bobbleheads this season. But let's remember that both of these nests were in a similar no-chick predicament last year - and how their fortunes have now turned again.
So hopefully things will now start to settle back into a regular pattern, and EJ and Odin will continue to work as the magnificent pair they have been, to defend this nest and bond with each other for next season.
On with another day...

She could have flown and got herself a fish, brought it back and eaten it in that time! Volume is now on low for me.

That's what I was thinking MOFFER
Hello Everyone Thank You all for your comments about yesterdays report. I went to LI early this morning but there was no action, the female was incubating and no sign of the male, all the action I seen was a tufted duck with her many little bobble heads following her. There was a woman and another couple there too with those big long lenses lol... I gave up before they did. Then I went to LG visitor centre, it was a bit quieter today, but it was far from quiet for Odin as EJ was giving him laldy, there was nothing wrong with her lungs as she screeched for Scotland in full voice. I have nothing new to report, sorry! as the Daily Updaters have already reported EJ screeching on the nest, but you may like to see it all from a different view.
They say every picture tells a story lol, well here are some photos from today.
EJ is in fine fettle she doesn't hold back... you can see the look on Odin's face, "where are my ear plugs"
Oh Pleeeease EJ! Where were you when I brought that big fish this morning....
Ok I hear you EJ!!!! please turn down the volume!
I am trying to get a bit of shut eye here!
Too Late I have nodded off!
From a different view
Ok I think it is time for me to go...
But just before I go
Is this what you want EJ... :-)
Then Odin flew off where we couldn't see but EJ went to sit on a favourite perch just in front of the nest., and she was still shouting.
This will be my last visit until I go back again in July, hopefully EJ and Odin will still be around defending their nest and we may just see them on screen having a domestic like today lol.... It cannot be easy for the staff having to repeat the sad events of what has happened this year over and over and over again throughout the day as people arrive in the centre, to think they will have to do this each and every day until the end of the season and still stay upbeat, but they do.

Thanks for the report Mary and the pics, just love the look on Odin's face as EJ screeches away. Won't be long until July and you will be visiting LG again.
I think Odin really did have the ear plugs in Lowry, his face said it all ha ha....
Thank you Mary. Another brilliant report. Lovely to see the action from a different view. I've watched a lot today and saw all the events on the board, and heard all the nagging off cam Your pictures are wonderful, and yes, that is what EJ wanted :)
Thank you Mary. We shall miss your on site reports.
Birdies LG DU update.
LOL Moffer, I know we shouldn't humanise them but it was like they really were having a little domestic!
EJ is looking up and mantling. Intruder about.
Just after the intruder event at approx. 16.31 EJ backed up like a fish was incoming but someone flew from behind the nest and over it, and away???
