It falls to me to start the new thread as we watch and wait with EJ.
Right now she is fast asleep, head under her wing, in all the glory of fuzzy cam
It's now more than two days since she last had a fish from Odin. Yesterday he paid two very brief visits, but arrived empty taloned both times. Why is he not fishing for his mate? We simply do not know.
And still EJ remains magnificently dedicated to her one remaining egg, and has so far resisted going fishing for herself. A zoom yesterday did not reveal obvious damage, but surely previous kicking and three days on the rim of the nest will have taken its toll? Is it trauma that is keeping her brooding, or simply habit? Or is there still a tiny chance something has survived against all the odds? We simply do not know.
All we can do is watch and wait. And so we do. On with another day fellow Ospreyholics!

Morning Everyone
Just arrived at Grantown on Spey yesterday after a week on the North West Coast, hence my disappearance from the DU.
I will be here for six days mostly to visit Loch Garten, but will find it very hard to see EJ constantly calling for fish and knowing she hasn't been fed since Saturday I hope I can hold it together when there, because as far as EJ is concerned I wear my heart on my sleeve and if that makes me a lesser person so be it.
I am as mystified as everyone else as to why Odin has not brought her a fish, and probably so are the team at the centre, it's been a hard season for them and for us to watch, but hopefully hunger will kick in and EJ will go fish for herself.
I will try and post any information and pics when I get back but the wifi is slow, in fact when we checked in on site we were handed a card explaining about it, but noted this part "High-Speed Fibre Broadband is rolling out across the rural Highlands but it's not here yet, it is hoped we will have it later this year"
Now whether that includes Loch Garten is anyone's guess, but at least it may just be a possibility.
Cannot get Rich Text I get the An error has occurred message so I hope this is not one big jumble of words. :-)

Good morning everyone, thank you for all the overnight reports/pics etc. I am praying by the time I get in from work later either Odin has provided his girl with a fish, or that EJ has finally gone fishing for herself, heart breaking to watch her at the moment.
Mary I can quite understand, you are no way a lesser person for it. Look forward to reading any feedback you send from your time at LG.
Have a good day everyone.
Good to see you at least you got here Mary. We'll await your report, hopefully, later.
Birdies LG DU update.
Hi MARY Interesting post I think we all have such a soft spot for EJ I also just hope Odin is not ill
Good Morning Everyone. Thank you for overnight and earlier observations. Another day of wait and see what happens. I was hoping that Odin may have appeared with an early fish.
Another burst of calling after a quiet spell.

Well that's a little gem of info for a start!
Good morning to all the lovely DU-ers who've arrived while I was away with the fairies ;-)
