Daily Update ~ Loch Garten Nest ~ Tuesday, 12 May 2015

It is a huge privilege to start this new thread, especially after a day like yesterday.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my mother, father, all ospreys worldwide and Tiger for drawing in his claws and stepping back.

I wish us all a less confused day of watching and attempting to interpret, and EJ and Odin the very best luck in the world in their defence of the most famous Osprey nest in the world.

Greetings all fellow 'midnighters'.

Some people think Ospreys are a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

  • Morning everyone and thanks for all the earlier posts and captures.

I wonder if Odin has been spotted at the fish farm this morning?  Hopefully a fish is delivered soon.

  • Deveronside, I've just twigged!  We've seen this bird before, in May of last year - he was considered an intruder then.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Oh goodness, I didn't even recognise my own picture and have been scrolling backwards and forwards in my recording trying to find the incident, lol ;-D
So have I. Why is that pic posted please.
This bird has intruded before - in the evening of May 7th last year.

  • Hmm. Aviemore Ospreys have posted on Facebook that Odin was seen fishing at the lochan just before 5am.

So where was THAT fish? EJ certainly doesn't seem to have benefited from it...

  • Good morning.  On facebook Aviemore Ospreys report Odin fishing before 5am but looking back he seems to have been seen fishless since then or have I missed something?

  • Hi, Maggie!  He was certainly in the habit of being a very early bird there last year so why he hasn't appeared on the nest with at least part of the fish is a mystery.
