Well not unexpectedly the season came to an end on Saturday morning when the intruding male broke the final egg.
As EJ is still in brooding mode she is still spending a lot of time on the nest brooding non existent eggs.
It now remains to be seen what will happen next. A variety of things could happen but as always with ospreys they will usually surprise us.
I guess the only way to find out is to keep watching.

Good morning, Tina - I can agree with that.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Morning all. Been lurking and catching up with your posts. Good to see EJ has eaten again, albeit only a snack.

Apart from getting frustrated with my laptop crashing I am in fairly fine fettle and deciding where I am going to walk today to try and get my stamina back. Thanks for asking.
Some people think Ospreys are a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
Morning Clare, pleased to read EJ has eaten.

[/quote]Well I hope you find somewhere suitably nice to walk before you give in to temptation and throw your laptop out of the window!
Morning all - thanks for all the updates and captures and may I say the united support shown against a most unjustified attack on dedicated members of this forum.
It is so strange, and sad, to look in and see an empty nest but good to know EJ is eating and flying around will do her good. She really needs to get back into condition.
I too think this OC is very young and immature. It is very early days and we don't know much about the other intruders ie are they still here or have they moved on? But I just hope we see a period of calm.
Oldshoremore said:Yes Moffer, I fear that may well be the case. But the only thing that we must surely hope will be salvaged from this disaster is EJ's well being, and return to full fitness. One half of a wonderful partnership is almost certainly lost - I'm now rooting 100% for the other, no matter what does, or doesn't happen, on the nest.
Well said OSM. I would rather see an empty nest, than see EJ brooding nothing. Her health is the most important issue to me too.

Morning all - just been busy catching up with everybody's thoughts and comments after yesterday's events ............ thank you very much to all who contribute to the updates and pics - much appreciated right now. Especially the comments from those who 'somehow' manage to comment on EJ's whereabouts when we're unable to actually see her on the nest.
Praying now that she can successfully defend her nest from any further intruders. I notice that LG are of the opinion that the season may not be completely lost and that, at least another egg IS a possibility. Of course, that means that whoever she bonds with will have to become a really good provider, and so far OC doesn't appear to step up favourably in that direction.
Best of Luck, EJ - we're all rooting for you, girl!
