I know before I begin that this is not going to be a popular thread but then all the more reason why we should have it.
As it looks now Orange Chested male may well be the new male in residence at Loch Garten. Of course he may not either.
However just in case he is I am starting this thread to record his reign right from the start.
This morning he has disposed of the remains of what was the 2015 clutch of eggs.
Now in doing so he was just exhibiting normal osprey behaviour. Male ospreys do not like raising chicks that belong to another male.
If he had been smarter and took a strategic view then he might have accepted the eggs and helped raise three chicks. However if he did he would not be an osprey. Have you ever tried to tell your cat not to kill birds? Well in my experience, admittedly from long ago, the cats did not want to know.
So let us use this thread to record the history of this new male, just as we have done with other ospreys including Odin.
I am not yet 100% convinced that Odin is dead. Who knows he may well reappear.

praying yes!
So is OC now going to join the long line of males who tried to become "male in residence at Loch Garten" and failed?
Some of you may remember how Red 8T tried in 2005 until Henry sorted him out. Red 8T found fame in his own right later and allegedly now considers himself "top osprey" around the fishing ponds.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
So this is the osprey that they are now calling Fenrir.
Yup.
Is Jen saying OC and BB are both the same bird (Fenrir)?
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Yes, OG.
original goldfinch, I've just put a link to a goldfinch video for you on the gabfest page amongst a load of waffling!!
