Just posted on yesterday's DU so will repeat myself here in shortened version - Mother Nature at its best and worst and we await the outcome.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Nature, red in tooth & claw :(
Thanks for starting the new DU, LIMPY.
I had loads to catch up, thanks to all for being so on the ball with pics and comments thru the intrusive evening!
This is BirdieNumNum's report from LG:
I have been to LG today in the hope to bring back some answers to all the questions we've been asking ourselves. I'm sorry to say that they are as confused as we are. They have no confirmed sighting of Odin since Tuesday morning. His absence is of great concern.
They have not managed to read the Blue Darvic ring on the intruding osprey as the activity on the nest happened very fast. They were hoping he would land again so they could focus on it but no luck today (not while I was there).
The male osprey that we call OC looks young from the footage they showed and he has shown determination. Yesterday he was eating a fish on a tree to the left of the nest and EJ was food soliciting and looking in that direction. Unfortunately it was not Odin she was calling.
EJ was on the nest all the time I was there. She was very quiet and tired but she was very alert. She rolled the eggs a few times and they eggs looked intact. I only saw one of the intruders at about 14:03 but it was not possible to say which intruder it was. After that, it all went very quiet until at about 15:55 when an intruder flew near the nest and EJ called. I left just before 17:00 and I missed all the other intrusions.
You all have done a sterling job in reporting everything in such detail today so a big thank you from me to everyone of you.
I am so sorry I haven't managed to answer a single question for you today. I hope that Wendy can tell us more about the situation after her visit tomorrow.
I will post some pictures in tomorrow's DU.

Am going to tear myself away for now & wish for a morning miracle when I next log on. Night all

That says it all. We do need reminding - some of us may have fallen into a haze of complacent happiness watching our happy couple starting our their season.
It now seems that this is the biggest change that Loch Garten has seen since Henry failed to return in 2008. I feel sure that the origins of this began on 26th April and recorded here at the beginning of 27 April
But then when were osprey predictable?

Was Odin weakened by that "injury"? He seemed to recover quickly... well, no, he didn't recover, he never seemed affected by it and blood disappeared as if it had never been there.
He's out there somewhere, I'd like to think he is recovering now but members at the fishing sites are looking out for him and have not seen him :-(
Thanks to Everyone for all the posts and to Limpy for your summary above. I was unable to check the Forum or webcams at all on Thursday, so this is the first I've heard that Odin is still not back. So sad, but I, too, hope for a miracle, despite knowing that nature is red in tooth and claw. And I hope someone brings EJ a fish today or she will have to go fishing for herself very soon.
Kind regards, Ann
