Good morning all (well, it's not, really, but thanks everyone for all the info on events so far). All very confusing, and worrying. Re contacting the Centre, Jen has been really meticulous so far this season in keeping us informed, so I quite confident that we'll an update before long.
Oh, poor EJ - intruder on the nest again, bold as brass - she tries to fend him off while still covering the eggs.
Hi, Oldshoremore and Brenda - and everyone else!!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Can it be??????????
My heart sank when I logged in and seen 178 replies in DU, I knew then that things were not good.
I feel sick to my stomach reading what has gone on this morning since I left, thank you so much Scylla for the videos, and everyone for your posts, pics at what must have been very dramatic to watch.
I see one of the intruders still persisting or was that Odin who was last on the nest.
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
I did email Richard last season to ask if it was helpful us us to call the Centre when the live stream went down as the thingmebob to reset it is in the building - the very nice response I got said, on the whole, it's not.
Hi Clare. This intruder is not easily frightened. He will make a great partner for another female, but not EJ.
He's certainly one tough character!
The facts.
1. It seems as if Odin has been missing for about 26 hours.
Now unless he reappears quite soon it really is a huge crisis. Worst of all the rain is due back before lunch.
Males have gone missing before, most notably 8 (97) at Manton Bay in 2008 and the eggs did not hatch.
Odin himself went missing in 2009.
The female at Wigtown went missing for 41 hours in 2010? and the nest was fine.
Not so last year at Tweed Valley.

Odin has NOT been on the nest MA. RY but the current tweeting from EJ is definitely not a ********* pesky intruder
Hi Brenda - yes, a very confident intruder - looked quite at home standing on the rim of the nest. I think the really worrying thing about watching the cam at the moment is the uncertainty - NOT KNOWING what, if anything has happened to Odin.
