WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY MAY 3, 2015

Hallo all

Check out last week's thread for holiday shots from Lindybird and funnies from dibnlib.

That was a large baby (by today's standards). Anyone remember how much George weighed? I see Alice and Charlotte are the top name choices - both are pretty. I'm waiting for the call asking my opinion! :-)

Lindybird: That's a lovely beach.

dibnlib: Good for you standing up for yourself re your work hours. Hope it brings a positive change - regardless. Love the rear of that wine truck. :-)

Heather: A shame about your dinner. Hope the guest of honor enjoyed his.

Guy came this morning and tree and plants are now nicely tucked up in the soil. He told me his crew is available for half-day jobs (trimming, etc.), which I'll certainly keep in mind.  Off to daughter's to pick up the guinea pig tomorrow morning; then home for appointment with possible house painter.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

  • Even though we lived in Shetland we didn't see an otter in the wild. Probably because there were usually one or two Goldies with us wherever we went. We often came across people saying "Did you see those otters playing? but they were usually gone whenever we got to where they had been seen.

Todays itinery was coffee at Tiso, then a run down to LG where we spent an hour watching EJ sitting on the nest with a quick flight to stretch her wings. We then walked Benson by LG and went for lunch at Andersons in Boat of Garten. Nice but no more than that. They did some unusual sorbets and on our way out the only remaining table asked which we had eaten. Quick chat and we found out the couple were visiting from Andover and their friend was from Mosstodloch. Well we used to live there in the early 80s and it turned out we both lived in Mossmill Park. "Think you may know a friend of mine then. we went to primary school together in the Central Belt. She was the local GP in Fochabers, Dr T***. The poor lady nearly choked on her coffee as of course she knew my friend. What a coincidence!!! Another walk for Benson, then coffee at the local gallery and home via another walk at Daviot. Here are a couple of pics OH took of Loch Garten. BTW last year there was some horrible dangerous algae on the loch and although the notices were still up we could find no trace of the horrible stuff.

oh well no luck with pics at the mo

  • try again

oh well got there in the end.

  • DibnLib, lovely photos from today.  Sounds as if you have had a lovely day.   Been to Andersons thought the same, perhaps not quite as generous as you.   Are you on hols.  I can't see past the Mountain Cafe in Aviemore now.  The food is excellent but unfortunately often a queue on the stairs but it moves quickly.

  • Dibnlib, You seem to make a habit of meeting people that you haven't seen for years but today's meeting must count as one of the greatest surprises.
Thank you for your OH's beautiful photographs.

Linda, I like the baby's names and can see why they chose them. I have a great niece called Charlotte and it is never shortened.

The heavy rain has just arrived here, due to continue until tomorrow morning, with a gale warning starting at 7am. It is May, isn't it !!!

  • our sorbets were raspberry, basil, and black pepper. The second was pineapple, chilli and lime.Interesting

  • A Daisy day today..

Lovely walk and a bath as after a few trips to the beach had a certain odour to her this meant I washed everything of hers including special mummy toy.

Trip to Elgin to meet people her favourite thing as people are far more interesting than barking dogs.

Rain promised tomorrow but have indoor stuff planned.

Re lunches in my opinion  both Mountain Cafe and Abdersons are not a patch on what they were...

  • Enjoyed our walk this morning in the sunshine - we went along a track which is designated for pedestrians and bicycles only. Bonnie ran after a couple of the cyclists but only in fun: she didn't bark or try to catch them. She was bemused by a large horse being ridden at walking pace but I held her by the collar in case she ran in front of it. Everyone we met was charmed "Oh, look at the cute/little/funny/frisky puppy!" they exclaimed, as she bounded around. She then spoiled it all by taking a big mouthful of horse manure.....
  • Bonnie's List. - Today she ate or chewed or stole..... My OHs glasses case. Two pens from a pen holder on the windowsill. A whole lot of weeds from the weed bucket - as fast as I pulled them out of the ground and threw them into the bucket, she strew them all across the lawn. My camera - I heard a knocking noise and she was running around the conservatory with my camera in her mouth, held by the strap. It was hitting the tiles every time she changed direction. She had found that on the windowsill just after I had taken photos of her in the garden! She also chewed her doggy towel, my OHs sweater from a chair, and the toggles on my gilet, hung up.
  • No underwear this time, then, Lindy!  Blimey, I'm so glad we only have birds.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Lindybird so pleased Daisy arrived aged 3 after formative years with youngest...

She still loves fresh horse poo...
