More intrusions yesterday but nothing like as aggressive as they have been. Odin caused concern, he was not seen on the nest for 9 hours but stamped his authority on it and on EJ when he did eventually appear, by pseudo-mating.
It's another windy night, EJ has just taken a 2-minute break - that's 2 minutes from getting up to sitting down, not 2 minutes in flight:
She returned from an unusual direction, hope you can recognise her legs in the top right:
Flaps:
Back on the eggs, alert, she is not sleeping yet as I type:
Gosh, I need to outline EJ's face, eyes and beak in that last snap, I can hardly pick her out myself :o

Yes, he was, some nice tail views:
And here's another Odin's tail view from when he was defending earlier:

I love that 'kilt'. Thank you to all for pics and posts. Was out from early until now and was grateful to read your posts and look at all the captures. No breakfast so must eat now. Join you all later
Beautiful shots of Odin's tail Thank you SCYLLA and thank you everybody else for posts and images Glad EJ has had a good feed Odin looks settled
EJ is back. She gently pushes Odin off the eggs. and he flies off.
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
Hello, EJ:
Odin has flown:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
13.31 Just as I was about to say Odin is still there, alone, EJ lands with a wonderful tweet. Odin stays put as she 'fiddles' at the back of the nest. Cam stalls....20 secs+ and I find EJ settling down on the eggs, and Odin has left

As EJ is incubating, and all appears well with the world I am going out to the garden. Although still wet underfoot the sun is trying to come out, and those darned weeds just won't stop growing. SYL
EJ is sitting with the wind gently blowing her beautiful feathers:
If only I had a pound for every time I've commented on EJ's beautiful feathers I wouldn't need to look for work!!
I can hear rain as well as the wind now. There are a few splodges on the cam lens. EJ is hunkered down.
I'm off for a while. SYL
15.50 I'm back, beaten in by torrential rain and thunder & lightning. EJ is on the nest. I guess the rain has stopped, she doesn't look too wet.
EJ has started cheeping, and there is possibly a splodge of rain on the screen. At least I assume it is EJ, I can't actually see her beak moving, and I've got nothing else on?? Well she has stopped, so it doesn't matter.
