And so we begin another month. Osprey season is in full swing, with lots of action everywhere. ENJOY!
A redwinged blackbird on he feeding tube at ithica NY. We used to see them often in our back yard, but no more. Urban sprawl, probably. Many farms and woodlands have been replaced by suburbs since we moved here and it is still happening today.
Also we get a better idea of the lake here, as the water is visible through the trees.
This is a lovely bird - beautiful deep black satin feathers, with brilliant red edged with bright yellow on the shoulders. This color shows and disappears as the wings open or close.
I think these are saved in my picture file from an email. Certainly they are not my own photos. (Don't I wish) I don't remember ever even seeing blue butterflies in this area.
.I'm finding I need some relief after the intensity of Loch Garten nest.
Alaska from streetwalking Google Earth,
Cut paper - from an email.
Blooming now I n my back yard.
A new blog today.
The Boy Is Back In Town
Quick skim read of the DU. EJ and Odin still having to defend the nest from the intruder. Can't find any mention of a fish for EJ, but I may have missed that.
I don't like the name LG have given the intruder (see blog).
Some are speculating that Odin may have another nest and female.
Update 15.07 - Intruder has brought a fish to the nest, but he has now flown away with it.

Meanwhile at Dunrovin, Harriet appears to have a new mate who is also attempting to kick eggs out of the nest.
Here is more what I would be hoping to watch.
