No extreme weather yesterday, and our osprey couple spent the day mating enthusiastically and nestorising, breaking off to deal with an unseen intruder.
A leftover mystery solved - EJ was brought a headless fish in the morning but didn't make a move to eat it for... how long? Over 4 hours! It got covered a couple of times, EJ sniffed at it and snubbed it, but eventually she flew off with it @ 11:45hr:
The nestcup situation remains a concern to some of us, it seems to be harder this year to scrape out a good shape even without the problem of the PM hole.
IMAGICAT
Thanks for all the update pics and comments Scylla :-)
Sadly, I have concerns about that PM hole too. :-(
Unless anyone at the hide can throw some more light on the matter, or reassuring info, I am wondering how much damage that PM did inside the underside of the Osprey nest. ie is it hollowed out, and no matter how well the hole in top is filled in....it will just slowly sink and disappear within.
I hope that isn't the case, but as there isn't much that can be done about it now, I suppose we will just have to let nature take its course, for better or worse!!
Chirpy mating on the nest.
EJ flew in:
She remains on the nest.
She's just waiting... I think I hear some very soft tweets.
Another mating. EJ resumes her pose.
No CC or HERON or MARY, but I must retire. EJ is still on the nest. See you later.
Morning Scylla -Thanks for pics, comments, introduction and starting the thread.
Morning Trying.
EJ is getting blown a bit this morning, while she makes her gentle cheeps, oooh and there is mating happening now.

More gentle cheeps from EJ and more mating from Odin.
