Happy New Week

  • Well I don't know what the world is coming to!  Was working at the computer, got up to investigate lunch options and as I walked into the kitchen, startled a crow that was just inside the sliding glass door helping itself to the bowl of dry cat food. Crow took off; I closed the screen door. An hour later, I was outside, came in and didn't close that door properly (we often leave it a bit open for the cat to putter in and out), turned around a few minutes later, and there was the crow again, inside the door stuffing itself. Closed the door properly that time and went back to the computer only to hear a noise in the living room a little later, so snuck quietly out there to find the crow poking at the screen door. It finally gave up but helped itself to the cat's water, outside the door before flying off. I told OH, it would be asking for the dinner menu next.

Lindybird: What a year for your friend; hope she can have knee surgery and be done with docs for a while.

  • Good Morning, All. Dry here but a little cloudy. No rain forecast for days - unusual for Spring. Annette - That's one cheeky crow. Wonder if he/she will persist now he knows there is food there. Lots of Election talk on the TV this time, have watched some of it but its boring that its covered for too long on every single news bulletin. This will be a very tight result, it seems: let's see. A friend of mine always puts herself forward to work in the Voting station near her home, and gets well paid. She enjoys it, too.
  • P.s. Annette - never held a baby hedgehog! Maybe they're not quite as prickly as their parents!

Fantastic!  It must have been watching you for ages to develop such a huge degree of trust.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning Everyone. With the weather being so lovely, we have been working hard in the garden. We had filled the garden bin for collection this morning. We heard them arrive and when OH went to put the bin away. he found they had not emptied our's. I have been on the phone for quite a while to report that they have missed our bin and now we have to wait as they can't say when it will be emptied. We were hoping to continue cutting down a couple of pyracantha, but we need an empty bin to continue :-((  As we have to pay an extra £28 a year to have a garden refuse bin. I find it even more annoying.

Annette, I love all birds but I don't want a crow in the house. They are so intelligent though. I wonder how many times it has shared the cat food before you spotted it.

Lynette, I do hope your knee is back to normal this morning.

Linda, I watched the political debate last night. I found it interesting, not for what they said, but to watch individual reactions to certain comments and things that were said when they lost their 'cool' and didn't keep to the rehearsed "script ".

It is still sunny here, but there is more cloud this morning.

They would all do themselves a massive favour if they all binned the scripts and told us the truth!

  • I only saw part of last nights debate, but was interested in the Question Time programme following it. As someone pointed out, there is not a single person in this Election who you feel will keep to all the promises being bandied about, in an effort to gain our votes {sigh}
  • Been to visit sis-in-law, who is already in love with Bonnie: we want Bonnie to feel at home there as sis may have to be called upon occasionally to dog sit. She ran around her garden like a mad thing (the dog, that is, not my sis-in-law!) and got all the dog toys out of her basket. On the way we called into the Vets to introduce Bonnie and get her name on their books. Going back soon for the usual worming etc. Apparently she won't need to be spayed for quite a while. Lots of "Ooohs" and " Aaaahs" from the nursing staff there!
  • Good evening all

It seems as if we have all been busy and I can't reply to all but want to wish CLARE well for her interview and hope that everyone has a good weekend. I am amazed that a crow was brave enough to cross your threshold, ANNETTE! I'm loving the puppy stories LINDA and LMAC, but honestly don't think that I would cope.

LYNETTE,I hope that you feel stronger soon x

Like BRENDA - and probably lots of us, we have been very busy in the garden for the last day or two. Shopping this morning, gardening all afternoon and for me, ironing this evening.OH is asleep, he walked to town and back this morning before getting stuck into gardening for the rest of the day. The 'outdoor' vine has buds, always lovely to see as a promise of things to come.

We are off to France in three weeks time but don't quite know what we shall be doing there, since my brother's car has blown up and been written off as no value. One crisis after another over there, it seems.

  • Nice to have a post from you, Heather. We've been weeding and are hoping to get more done in the garden tomorrow, when its promised that it'll be sunny. Have also washed some chair pad covers and got an ornamental voile curtain down, ready to put out on the line tomorrow. How lovely that you can already see buds on your vine - we have blossoms on our plum tree and always wonder how many plums we'll get each year. Hope your brother can replace the car and you can have a relaxing time in France.
