A Google search revealed this so I have started a new thread has been suggested.

I wonder if CRinger has had any response to his email?

Not a word - so yesterday I wrote a follow up saying I was extremely surprised and very disappointed not to have heard from them. I commented that a lack of reply was not a great advertisement to report crime, as they suggest, by emailing Police Scotland.

........... I will keep you posted.

Some people think Ospreys are a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

  • Who has that wonderful quote as  their signature? about Ospreys by that famous person whose name I can't remember ? Rats!  Well, Mr Ellis. OSPREYS ARE FAR FAR FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN T IN THE PARK AND OH YES, RSPB AND SNH : SHAME ON YOU

  • There it was all the time!! (the quote( - I just didn't see it )

I was afraid that would turn out to be the case - I figured if you'd had a response you would have posted it immediately.  I thought your email was very well worded so it's obvious that wildlife crime doesn't feature highly on their list of priorities.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Mr Ellis in his arrogance quotes What is more important - Ospreys or T in the Park.

Well in response to this question I am aware what P & K council answer is and will remain so - All I can say the concert will take place as planned with possibly an exclusion area.

I think an agreement has been concluded by all parties (P & K - DF Concerts - SNH - RSPB) leave the birds alone and agree with this exclusion area and the concert will be granted approval in May.

No wonder Mr Ellis is so confident - HE KNOWS the outcome.

Sadly, I fear you are totally correct in your assumption Keith.

My other question though.....is, as he has so blatantly admitted foul play re existing wildlife protection laws, will he be prosecuted for the violations?
If they (i.e. Mr Ellis and DF Concerts) are allowed to exceed the law without any action being taken, what message does that send out to everyone else re the strength, and future application of, of the current protection laws !!

Out of further interest, any information update anyone knows  re: the current situation regarding the Osprey nest there. Have the birds definitely set up residence at the nest again?

  • CRinger - thanks for update.  I find it quite disgusting that you have not have a response in relation to a wildlife crime.  Please keep us updated.

  • Today's news doesn't make good reading either.  It seems that 'people power' in favour of T it P is stronger than the opposition 'people power' or is money the inducement?

  • I'm very concerned that the RSPB, haven't fought strongly enough to protect the pair of Ospreys from the T in the Park Rock Festival and if the Rock Festival does take place, the noise will be so deafening that it will definitely affect the Ospreys. I'm still waiting for an official comment from the RSPB on these forums and that it has been deafeningly quiet from them, with no RSPB comment has been so disappointing and I would use words more strongly about this, but as this is a forum I can't.

    Regards,

    Ian.

  • Yes. I had just spied that article to SheilaFE :-(

One thing Mr Ellis is supposed to have said that really does annoy me,....

Quote "But T in the Park boss Geoff Ellis commented that the festival 'may not go ahead' if Perth and Kinross council refused to give the green light." Re STV Aberdeen

That is almost bribing people to support him, and saying it is Strathallan or not at all. Given the thousands that message was directed at, I think the words were spoken by someone who only has his focus on manipulating one financially beneficial outcome, regardless of others factors

I thought Scotland was a bigger place than just one estate.

I also wonder if the council planning decision would have the same outcome, if it weren't for the fact that it is the same council who dealt with the T in the Park's previous site.

    Your thoughts are welcome

  • I think what we read in the papers and what is happening are two entirely different things. Remember Val's post also intimated as much.
