Hi all: Don't forget to check last few comments of last week's chat and a lovely photo from OG - of Loch Garten I assume. Alan: Wonderful close up of EJ on the last Daily Update. Thanks to everyone else for all the news from far and wide.
Just in from Earth Day event, which had a lot more transportation (electric/natural gas, etc) options on display this year, including bikes of all shapes and sizes (SB is a big bike town with lots of bike paths, even throughout downtown). Spoke to a friend of a friend there who is setting up a raptor rescue center at the Natural History Museum; also the California Condor group who are trying to figure out how to set up a live cam at the condor feeding station in the back country. They're thinking maybe solar power, but then there's the problem of relaying the signal, etc. If that's successful, they may try one at the nesting sites, but the problem is that condors don't nest in trees - they like caves, so a logistical hurdle for further down the road. Not to mention the "permit" hurdles, which are major given that the condors are still highly endangered. In addition to the usual solar, green, organic farms, foods and other community display booths there was the usual band and "green" gifts area. Didn't buy anything but did visit my friend with his spiffy electric car and bumped into another friend - a "Master Gardener" at another booth where we sat and chatted for an hour.
All quiet on the LG and LOTL nests right now; doesn't look windy or wet.
Drat - missed him. Must have been short!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Just watched Roy Dennis on BBC - fascinating to see what they are doing they at Arne with the 'polyospreys'
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

LG 7 days; RW & SWT nil; LDOP varies
I have just watched it Tiger. Roy seems to think it could work but that when it was tried at Rutland, the polyospreys were destroyed by local crows.. I wish them luck but I have very mixed feelings myself.
Many Thanks, Tiger: I had the tv on to catch the article, then missed the broadcast because I was on here!
Sunny again here today, (also a much better forecast for up at LG thank goodness)
Have a good Day, All.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TIGER . I'm so pleased I didn't miss that !!!!!!!!

Now need to properly read Friday’s chat! AQ – I was dreaming about some good chish and fips last night and decided we should try to plan some into the menus soon – maybe they taste better that way round! And you had rain – lucky you, it has been sooo dry here recently – they forecast rain, so we don’t water the garden, then it doesn’t happen and it gets dryer because of wind – having the March winds instead of April showers methinks! DjoanS – so pleased your OH returned. Lindybird – glad there was nothing serious wrong – dieting is hard, and you already seem to do loads of walking, so good luck! jsb – decided not to bother with volcano cam, sorry and thanks for help, just too much going on! Will follow your reports with interest. Alan – beautiful Clivia, well done for plant and picture. Love chainsaw carvings – that really is art – not something to make a mistake with (sorry about sentence construction or lack of). Annette – saw Trucker Steve contending with dreich weather and very wet roads last night (his afternoon) – approaching vehicles had their headlights on. Hope you plan your Arizona trip to be back for hatchings – expected from 21st May!! Terry – our grass (can’t dignify it with “lawn) has been scarified and cut once (not too short). Want to treat it with feed and weed and moss killer, but it’s too dry – never satisfied !
Going out to coffee morning and then Farmers’ Market, so will look at last night’s posts later. Meanwhile, another taste of Mersehead birds – a lovely Yellowhammer:
