Daily Update (LG Nest) Thursday, April 15, 2010

Good grief! 12 pages yesterday. And most of them about the birds and the bees - or the birds. I'm copying Wattle's post (the last one on yesterday's Update thread) which may throw some light on the topic.  (Glad someone asked; I wasn't sure myself but you feel such a twit.....)

From Wattle: Now I've finished chuckling at all the posts, I'll answer the delicate question posed.  Generally, birds have just one multi-purpose opening, male and female, both under the tail.  The female holds her tail to one side, and the male curls his body forward  until there is, well, a 'bum kiss'!  It can be lightning fast and still be very effective.  ;-)  I say 'generally', because male ducks, swans etc can be more elaborately endowed, but females are always the same (I think).

Thank you Wattle, I think..... :-)

Oh, and the LG nest is empty; Marge is at LOTL

  • Barbara Jean and margobird, I keep watching EJ to see if she gets contractions .  Do either of you know if ospreys do get them?  This is a Cirrus type question! lol  Edit; I;d love to see a sky dance  that would be something!!

  • She is just sat sitting there. Patience and fortitude. She is a good old girl .

  • Morning all;. Geez. This is where I left off last night, with EJ sitting on the nest. Thanks everyone for updates, summaries, and new information, etc.,  Tish: Hope the doc can give you something that will take care of the psoriasis speedily.  Off to see famous photo on Weekly Chat.  :-)

  • WATTLE thanks for the technical info. The first definitely comes under the heading " all those things you wanted to know but were afraid to ask ( in case of being thought an idiot) and all the time everyone is dying to ask the same thing

  • Annette . I wonder if Cirrus knows what she has unleashed among us!!

  • No idea Tish . Just got back, just booted up PC and you post was on its own on a new page. So   ..... I'll catch up now with whatever it was you are talking about !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     :)

  • TISH  love the digging, really makes me laugh. Sorry about the psoriasis. Had a red rash a couple of weeks ago, red and really itchy/prickly, drove me nuts esp in the evenings. Only lasted a few days so I can't imagine how you feel, but you certainly have my sympathy. Mine was probably an allergy the doctor thinks though I still don't know just what I am allergic to!

Thanks for concerrn.  I get more annoyed with it than anything though it is sore.  Got some more magic cream which I am assured will work if I de-stress.  I should have told her about LG  and how stressful that is !!lol   We'll see . It'll go the same way it came!!

  • TISH I am sure that if the medical advice was to de-stress by not watching the osprey antics you wouldn't pay a blind bit of notice!!!! in fact not to watch them would probably be even more stressful!!!!!

  • Back home to see another mating taking place. I would say it was of the 60% unsuccessful attempts variety.
