Happy Easter all!

OK. So EJ and Odin safely at LG, but what has happened to the LOTL cam. Haven't been able to get anything. It looks like it's going to load okay, then you get just a black screen.  Let's hope they get it sorted soon. Margobird said they'd had horrible weather there yesterday, so maybe that knocked out something.

Well, I missed Odin's arrival but thanks to BigRab, there's a video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4EoYaRO6js which I plan to watch myself in a minute.

Busy day here, also amazed to see Trucker cam is now in Albuquerque - boy! does that guy ever cover ground. So I really have to follow him tomorrow (along with you-know-who) because I've driven that road and just love the huge wide horizons. But it's also Easter, so a bit of family stuff going on. Bought some lovely strawberries from the farm down the road and then went to supermarket and bought some naughty cheese (fattening double cream French Brie), mushrooms stuffed with all kinds of yummy stuff and simply couldn't turn down Haagen Dazs's invite to try - "at special introduction price" - new Java Chip flavor with coffee and chocolate chips. Was at Costco earlier and got some great asparagus and Wild Alaska Halibut. So we had a nice dinner, but ice cream still unopened - for now.

  • Home from archives. Didn't need to carry raincoat <sigh> I must have frightened the rain away. I shall so glad when dawn is earlier and I can watch the nest without having to rush off to kitchen duties. Bye all

  • Morning All:  Looks as if it could be sunny here again today - it brightened up yesterday and we had a lovely afternoon.

AQ:  Sorry you've not had more rain!  At least its cooler now.

TerryM:   Lovely pic of the Bassenthwaite ospreys, thanks.

Had a pleasant lunch out at a Garden Centre in 'posh' Wilmslow yesterday, then Friend and I walked around the gift shop and the plants section, where I bought some baby vegetable plants for Husband to plant out, and of course, some birdseed & mealworms!  (didn't come across any of the millionaire Footballers or their wives, though, who seem to live around there!)

    Have a Good Day, All.

  • Morning all and thanks for all the chat and pictures especially TerryM for the Bassenthwaite pair. I am hoping to go to the Lake District in July and will no doubt visit Dodd Wood and the Whinlatter visitor centre.

I just had to put on this picture of a goldfinch I took this morning on the nyger feeder in the garden:

  • Glorious sunshine again this morning. Postman was wearing his shorts this morning. I don't think I could chance that yet.  Thanks for all your news.

Lovely photograph of your goldfinch Alan. Our's always ignore the nyger seed and seem to prefer the sunflower hearts.

TerryM, Thanks for your picture of the Bassenthwaite ospreys. I love following this nest and like Alan I hope to see them later this year.

  • Good morning Alan just starting a marathon catching up session.  Lovely photo of the goldfinch.

Can't get an osprey fix at the moment, LG cam down and so is LOTL.  Better news about the male at LOTL he has been bringing a few sticks and delivered a larger fish yesterday and also patrolling when there was some intruders around.  Hope the cams come back on soon but I know they will be doing their best.

Gorgeous cockatiels, Hazelwoods, sorry you've lost your avatar. I was thinking of changing mine but I feel emotionally attached to Deshar still, and he's never coming back (oh dear, everything's gone all blurry...) One of my cats sits on a stool next to me - I am standing of course, while he sits - and he nudges my elbow when I stop tickling behind his ears. It could be interesting tickling an osprey though!

I am away for the weekend starting tomorrow pm so might not post again, will be watching the cam at work though, I have got my boss interested in what's going on there at the moment. One minute EJ is peeping quietly, then it gets louder and we think "Odin's here!"

Thanks everyone for links and pics.

Good morning TerryM I know how you feel about Deshar,  I still keep the pictures of him and as you say eyes become moist, he was such a brave bird.

So was I and so do I hazelwoods. And I finally give up , not having 20 year old eyesight. I am most intrigued by your little birdie avatar (at least, I hope it's a birdie - I have be known to mistake Gary's pony for a crocodile !!!!!) I know, sigh. But, what IS your little birdie . The image is probably bigger on your personal page but I don't think I would recognise it..

I can't find the original of my avatar but here are my 3 boys... 2 cockatiels (Capuccinno and Sydney)and my son.

My avatar is really rectangular but the forum stretches it sideways to make it square. I've tried to upload a nhew one but it won't let me.,

Good morning hazelwoods what gorgeous birds and I must love the names.  I once had a beautful blue budgie Joey who helped me so much through a very difficult time in life.  I had him for just over 3 years and he was a dear litle thing.  My life improved and it was as though he new he had done a good job.  Unfortunately he became ill and despite visits to the vet he eventually died.  4 years on since he went but I still think of him and the pleasure I had with him.  Not been brave enough to get another one as I don't think I could go through that again.
