Evening all and welcome to a new wee

Feeling normal today!  Back to catch up later.

  • Just to say, all okay here - been busy.  Should be some wet non-gardening days this week, so I may catch up with you all!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

heard a lovely story yesterday ( sad/happy ending) We bumped into a dog walker in Tesco yesterday and she told us that she now had the pups Mum. Turned out her puppys Mum was up for sale as she was no longer earning her pennies as a breeding dog. She now has a loving home. The lady we met was recently on hols in st Andrews and wet a Blue Roan owner. The story went that they had gone to see a pup and in the corner of the room was an adult dog in a cage.turned out she was past her time as a breeding dog and they had no use for her. The couple immediately changed their minds and took the adult dog instead. What lovely people.

I thought that the description of 'an adult dog in a cage past her time as a breeding dog and they had no use for her' was absolutely heartbreaking.  What was she doing in a cage?  Is that her reward for being useless as a breeding dog?  I'm so pleased this couple rescued her.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Clare , thanks for the tip off re the line drawings.  We have some serious talent among the "ranks".

  • The Yadkin ospreys seem to be building up their nest more

  • I too was saddened by the thought of any dog in a cage that is past her "sell by" date.  Just awful.  How nice that the couple rescued that one in particular.

  • Good morning, all!  It's a beautiful, sunny day here and I might just pump up the tyres on my bike and go for a ride!

You might gather the bike hasn't seen much use through the winter!

  • Good Morning. Two shattered people here..... We are doing all the right things, but my OH went down at 3.00am to check on her and found a miserable puppy with an empty water bowl, sitting on bare metal as shed rucked up all the bedding. Neither of us has had much sleep as she has made every noise possible and available to such a small person, for several hours. I'm sure she'll sleep during the day today! I'm glad I sent for the new water bowl which may solve the problem of her spilling it on the bedding. On the good side, she went for a Proper Walk last night before bed as my OH put on her lead and took her around the block, and this morning he took her into the fields, which she loved. Perhaps we can now tire her out during the day LOL!!
  • Overlapped with you, Clare....enjoy your bike ride.
  • Just popping in to say Good Morning as we will be out most of the day.

I watched King Richard III 's coffin being taken to Leicester Cathedral yesterday and then the service. It was C4 and I do think the BBC would have covered the occasion much better.

Clare, The sun hasn't arrived here. Enjoy your bike ride. You may find it quite cool though.

Linda, Sorry about your sleepless night. I would try and not leave the water bowl overnight, because once she has tipped it over and wet her bedding, she is uncomfortable and fully awake again. I found that Penny slept right through when I decided to put a soft formed bed inside her cage. The bed can be folded to get inside the cage. She did not like the firm, plastic ( ? ) bed. We would then drape a blanket over the cage. Early days yet. X

  • Morning, Brenda - enjoy your day!
