WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, MARCH 8, 2015

Egads! We have to put the clocks forward tonight!  Seems like we just put them back 10 minutes ago.  :-(

  • Morning all. Woke more tired than when I went to bed. :-(   The water line wasn't the main one to the house, but the "main" one that takes water to the front of the garden, which means I will have to water that section by hand before I head out; doubt OH will get it fixed today. Unfortunately, temps are supposed to reach ridiculous over this weekend.

Rita:  Lovely shot of your - what? - not snowdrops?

Lindybird: Ditto re your shot of the ever-so-sweet grandboys; Dillon sure is growing up fast.

Lynette: I must make an effort to remember Pete's Pond for such great views of the locals.

Heather: We need Alfie over here!  Glad he turned out to be such a gem.   Oooh - champagne rhubarb sounds wonderful. I do miss rhubarb puds. Congrats on the anniversary!  Oh good, one less  thing to worry about now F has found a  house.

George: What a nice weekend with your son - and oh my  - another wonderful dessert - raspberry and apple crumble!  Yum. When it comes to shoes, Lindybird's the person to take along.  :-)  An hour's delay arriving home not too bad I guess.

Lindybird: Good the weather has settled somewhat there and how nice to take your friends off for a trip.  Oddly enough, the Pacific at this latitude stays pretty darn chilly most of the summer.

OG: I always visualize your garden and greenhouse as bursting with wonderful veggies.  Definitely envious but not organized enough to get a veggie garden started or keep it going - they take so much water.

Off to do more sorting out of trip stuff.

  • All the best, CLARE!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • ANNETTE - garden not bursting with much right now: just a row of Parsley left from last year, which will eventually run to seed, but will do until this year's sowing kicks in.  Oh, and Rhubarb just about ready.  But it's good to have the ground prepared, and sowing in the greenhouse starts in earnest next week: I always reckon OH's birthday or thereabouts for sowing my Tomato seed.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

    Ditto from me, too!!!!
  • Hello everyone - A  miserable day here weather wise, rain all day and wind, also quite cold, I just long for some nice settled Spring weather!

Heather - a belated Happy Anniversary, glad you had such a nice meal out and also that your daughter has got settled with a house.    I like the sound of your painter, I need someone like that, do you think he ever works out Muir of Ord way?

Clare- fingers crossed for your interview tomorrow, hope it goes well.

George - nice to hear that you enjoyed your visit to your son at the week-end, with some nice meals out.

Annette - bad luck, slicing through the water pipe!   You say you miss rhubarb puddings, can you not grow or buy rhubarb where you are?  I have grown rhubarb in every house I have lived in as I really love it, especially the early forced kind.

  • RITA I don't know whether Alfie works in your area but I will get his phone number for you.

I just phoned him, he does do your area. His mobile number is 07876792941. Highly recommended RITA, fastidious cheerful and reliable. He was recommended to me by a friend who is very fussy !!!
  • Thank you so much Heather, I am so grateful to you.  It is so good to have someone recommended. The person I used to have has retired now so I was looking for someone else.  I will really think about getting my kitchen done now.

  • RITA you will have seen that OH and I have left Alfie in the house while we went out. Totally trustworthy guy. He is not a personal friend of ours and we are very careful about these things.

  • HEATHER   Happy anniversary yesterday. We usually have the 2 course lunch where the portions are not too large. Glad your daughter has found a suitable place to rent.

LYNETTE love the pics. On a visit to Kenya we saw a Mummy Warthog playing with her babies and they suddenly became a thing of real beauty.

Full day at work and I do find 0930 - 1730 quite tiring so off to bed very soon.
