WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, MARCH 8, 2015

Egads! We have to put the clocks forward tonight!  Seems like we just put them back 10 minutes ago.  :-(

  • We had a wonderfully peaceful day on a quiet beach yesterday, but it was spoiled by an encounter at teatime with a "lesser spotted human infected with verbal diarrhoea!!!". OMG some people can talk!!! The worst I've ever encountered!

LOL!!!!  That paints all sorts of unpleasant pictures, Lindy.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Wish I could go into detail but it would not be pretty, Clare!! Tested my patience at being a good listener!!! Have a great day with your camera! Dibnlib: much prefer the other creatures on the planet to the human ones, present company excepted!!!
  • Better weather – in fact, brilliant weather! But of course (S**’s Law) OH not available for garden as he has a Carers’ Training this morning (on Medication Awareness); I am capable of handling my own meds, but we thought he ought to go. My haircut this afternoon, Gardening Group this evening, so a full day.

Heather – it doesn’t sound as if your lovely painter is likely to disappear on holiday during a three day job!

Lynette – that Eagle nest definitely looks a more comfortable place to be now! Enjoy your swim!

Annette – wonderful Whale news – must have been a great experience, seeing so many at once. I hope you will have some rest before the AZ trip, and enjoy your other visits too.

Clare – enjoy your camera expedition!

Linda – pleased you are now enjoying the weather you went for. Ladybirds better than Locusts! Sorry beach time was spoiled: those people seem to appear everywhere!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hello All - nice sunny day here at the moment , although the the sun does keep disappearing for a while.   It is better than yesterday though, it just poured with rain all day, could not get out into the garden at all.    None of my early spring flowers have been as good as last year, too much wind and rain battering them down, the crocuses need the sun to open properly.    I have just had a small golf ball type light bulb go in the bathroom with a loud pop and a showers of sparks, it was just like a firework!  The bulb did not shatter though. I have never had that happen before, it made me jump!

Heather - it sounds as though you will have a lovely smart new kitchen by the time your friends arrive.   I envy you, my kitchen needs decorating but I cannot seem to face the upheaval, I really must try to do something about it .

Annette  - How exciting to see so many whales, it must make your rota duty so worth while. hope you have a good time when you go away.

Dibnlib -  I also enjoyed all the Crufts programmes, such beautiful dogs and I also love the agility contests, etc.    How sad about the Red Setter being poisoned, how cruel and spiteful people can be, it is hard to understand how someone could do such a thing.

Lindybird -  glad that the weather has turned around for you now and that you are able to sun yourself on the beach.

  • Hi, Rita.  We've just had a new bird in our garden - it appeared on our shed roof a short while ago.  Can you believe it's a pheasant?  Not exactly what I'm used to seeing up there.......!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • I had a pheasant in my garden about two years ago, most unusual, it spent about half an hour pecking about and I managed to get some photos through the windows, a bit fuzzy as windows were not very clean!

  • Hi Everyone. Absolutely beautiful day, blue sky, fluffy white clouds and so mild. I have been in the garden, wearing just a tee shirt ( with jeans, I hasten to add ).
Builder came this morning about building brick wall. He brought a fellow with him who would erect some sort of conveyor belt, in order to get bricks from the front of the house up to a raised lawn/ flower beds at the back !!  We are still waiting for an estimate for the job and a timetable. I fear our garden will be ruined.

Heather, So pleased to hear that your painter is so good and friendly. Enjoy the results of his work.

OG, It always happens. Good weather always seems to clash with other appointments. I hope EE returns home to enjoy some of the sunshine.

Annette, Fantastic whale count. You really must have been so excited.

Clare, Pheasants are very common in our garden, but none as friendly as my avatar, who always came to be fed. Our biggest shock, was when we saw a peacock, displaying on a neighbour's roof. ( probably an escapee) We couldn't  spot a female though. The neighbour was worried about her ridge tiles though, as the bird strutted up and down.

Rita, Quite a shock for you when a light bulb explodes. I was thinking of you all, who were getting those severe gales and heavy rain yesterday. I saw on the news that there were gusts of 125mph in the very far north of Scotland. We didn't have any wind or rain here.

Linda, Good to hear you are now enjoying good weather.

  • Great walk with friend this afternoon. Benson found lots of playmates and it was fun and games for me trying to catch him. The truth is I couldn't. He only came when he was ready. Towards the end of the walk he found his 4 friends (2 Collies and 2 Whippets) and just had to join in with the fun. Wonderful to watch them.

  • Brenda -  It certainly was'nt tee shirt weather here today, in fact I nearly put on gloves when I went out shopping.  However I took the following photo first thing this morning while the sun was out.
