HAPPY NEW WEEK AND HAPPY NEW MONTH!
Last week's Chat thread is HERE.
Thursday, March 5, is the Full Moon.
Also,
On March 6, NASA's Dawn spacecraft will arrive at the dwarf planet Ceres. Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
The Dawn space probe will spend several months observing Ceres and sending back the first close-up images of a dwarf planet in our solar system. You can watch the spacecraft's arrival at Ceres on a special broadcast of the Slooh Observatory:
U.K.: Friday 6 March at 6:00 p.m.Eastern U.S.: 6 March at 1:00 p.m.California: 6 March at 10:00 a.m.
Scientists have already detected mysterious bright spots on Ceres and are anxious to discover what they are. INFO
Everyone have a great week!
I’m ready for action. It’s Nanny day. I didn’t feel quite so tired after Monday, so I must be recovered from the virus. Last night OH & I went out for a quick meal at a nearby restaurant, quite small, friendly service, very noisy, but food was good. We’ll go again.
Brenda – just think, when you get to Singapore, you are only 6-7 hours by plane from Adelaide! I’ve been to Singapore 5 times but I’ve only seen the inside of the airport terminal which BTW is magnificent with indoor gardens, entertainment & millions of shops. I’m sure the time your son & d-i-l are away will go in a flash.
Happy Birthday EE from me too

OK EE, we'll have to post on March 17th instead - St. Patricks day.
Starling - he is a cutie and Baxter sounds a great name.
Annette - love the pics and glad the whale watching is going well and that you have had some much needed rain.
OG - glad your new dentist has proved ok for you. What a to do, locked in the loo. Well done OH for getting him out.
Brenda, that is good news. Even though you will miss them they are furthuring their careers with a post in another country and you can visit and they will visit home as you say.
Margo - glad things went well.
BRENDA- I can imagine where your feelings have been taking you recently, the two sides of things fighting! The great opportunity with which they have been presented versus the big hole in your life for two years, the chance (fear) that they may settle too well---
Its only since I became a parent that I fully understand my Mum's feelings about me moving to Scotland when I was 30 odd. (only six hundred miles from her but it might as well have been six thousand) She said that my place was with my husband, to go, she even quoted from the bible about Ruth, I believe. So hard for parents but so exciting for the young adventurers!
Good morning. Spring may not be fully underway, but it seems winter is over! Today is sunny and dry and getting warmer, but we still have rain to come before the weekend. The man has been to fit the new blinds in the lounge and hallway, but I am hoping to spend some time in the greenhouse later, then we have a talk at General Interest Group this evening – entitled “Challenges”!
Brenda – sorry that your Daughter found the heating wasn’t working in the new house; I am pleased she managed to borrow heaters, having to wait for it to be attended to. I always recommend a B Gas contract, and we have most of the add-ons with ours too. I hope she has space for her Brother’s storage items.
Margo – pleased about the bloods report! Take care, with your OH back at work, don’t go rushing around in his absence!
Linda – have to say, I would have preferred your fried eggs and bacon to the fish restaurant meal! We only have poached eggs and grilled bacon, and that only about once a month.
AQ – good to see you are feeling better and more positive about nanny duty, and that you and your OH had a meal out together. The cooler weather will help lift your energy levels also.
Well, need to get indoor things finished if we are to get outside later. J has taken himself out for the day, so we are free to do what we need when we need!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Heather, I had just become used to the fact that they were settling in London and then Singapore raised it's head, which is completely different. Long term, it could mean that they will end up in Geneva. I am so proud of both of them and what they have achieved, but I can't help being a Mum. LOL. I don't interfere, but inwardly, I would rather they weren't going so far away. I shall look forward to the holidays in Singapore though. My OH has been there a few times, with his job, but I have never been there.
Good morning all and things back to normal with OH's return to work. So good to see him relax and not rush about trying to fit everything in. We had a good day out on Monday. Left home and had decided to go down to West Bay and then decide where else we would go after that. Weather was somewhat bizarre, blue sky and sunny one moment but suddenly getting very dark and having a hail storm. This happened a few times and whn he hail came the temperature dropped down to 2 degrees. We then wnt on to Lyme Regis another favourie place of ours and from there drove into Devon and had a look at Seaton and Sidmouth. Unfortunately we coukdnt get out of the car because the hail seemed to be following us round. Came back into Dorset and had intended to go to a pub we had found quite a few years back. Coukd not get our bearings and didn't have the the Satnav or a map with us (note to self to take both with us next time). Decided to head off down a very narrow lane and take pot luck with first pub we came to. Found 2 pubs and picked the right one as it turned out because they were not serving food on the other one. it was a beautifully kept, very small but so welcoming from both the owners and the locals. So cosyand complete with an open fire. It happened to be their pie week so OH had game and I had a steak and kidney pie. Absolutely delicious, with vegetables cooked just the way we liked. If we had found the pub we were originally going to visit we would have been out of luck as theŷ are shut on a Monday. Will certainly be going back to visit the gem we have now found probably for Sunday lunch. Yesterday we went for a ride round the New Forest which is always enjoyable. OH has discovered he has more holiday left than he thought so will be taking some more days off. I think he has finally realised that he cannot keep working such long hours and often not even taking a lunch break.
OG pleased to see you enjoyed the family day. Sounds like a very successful visit to the dentist, especially as there was a trade off foy you as your OH was successful in freeing the person stuck in the loo. How embarrassing but at least some hilarity came of it.
Lynette sorry your church friend passed away. A happy release for him but devastating for his wife as it all happened so quickly at the end. How nice that you were given the opportunity to sing at church, perhaps there will be other opportunities for you. Thanks for the eagle pic, although it looked rather wet at least there was no snow as there is on the Decorah nest.
Annette hooray on two counts, you have seen whales and had more rain, long may it last. Thanks for the photos, gorgeous humming bird and Monarch butterfly. The tree is lovely as is the view of the coastline.
George as always good to see you and thanks for thinking of me. Hopefully now SIL has benn told what will happen she will feel a little less anxious. Hope your cooker is now installed and in working order. Dome njoynyour time with your son, sounds as though you are going to have a goog food experienc.
Lindybird goiod news that the weather has settled down a bit fir you, what acshane that your holiday friend has injured himself but luck not to have broken his arm. Good ditty for Clare's new car. Yiur fish dinner sounded delicious but egg and bacon equally enjoyable.
Starling Baxter is gorgeous, you must be delighted to finally having him at home. Hope you got some sleep but iyt is a big step for him.
Heather good to hear OH's procedure went OK. Hopefully scan and more investigation will follow soon as you be concerned.
Brenda I know you will miss your son and his wife but probably agree that it is a wonderful opportinity for them. At least they will be able to come back to visits and you will be able to visit them. Hope Penny situation will be solved and do you think you will have her for a couple of years. your poor daughter discovering that the heating was not working, alwatpys seem to happen when we have cold weather. A very good idea to take out a contract with British Gas. We have one and it has saved us a lot of money when we had a leaky tank, which was replaced with no charge and also to repair of pipe underneath the floor which was leaking. These two instances would have cost well over £1,000.
AQ pleased you are feeling less tired. Hope Nanny day does not take too much out of you.
Off to sort out some lunch for myself so have a good day all and take care.
Lindybird said:Clare - great that your car makes you mobile again - let's hope it will take you to work, soon! Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
