WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15, 2015

Evening all:

Lindybird: Love those poppies - such a wonderful rich color. I love tulips that color too.

AQ: Glad you're feeling better; sorry about the heat.

Rita:The Epi doesn't usually bloom until June.....

Battling my way through this jigsaw, which is the hardest one I've ever done (although Van Gogh's Irises was pretty challenging).  However, am packing it in now and enjoying a taste-test comparison of Hagen Daaz's   Caramel Gelato and Dulce de Leche ice cream.  The gelato is much smoother, but I think I prefer the texture of the ice cream.  Both are very sweet, almost too much...

Anyway, have a nice Sunday everyone, especially  Margo, who I hope is feeling better and enjoying some time with her OH.  Also hallo to George!

  • You'll all be pleased to know that the interview I have tomorrow did not involve an agency!!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Linda, Thanks for your reply. We have had a builder, who brought a man, who would have the machinery to dig trenches for the double wall. They then had a discussion about how much earth would have to be removed and where it would be taken. Measured the plot and estimated how many concrete blocks for the inside wall and how many bricks for the facing wall. That was all three weeks ago and we still haven't got an estimate. A second builder stood mumbling to himself, as he took notes, but still no news from him :-((  We have the phone number of a third company. I suppose we have to try him !!!!

  • CLARE Good luck!

RITA  Thank you for the cheering cacti!

BRENDA/LINDY Your chat about walls reminded me - I was so pleased to read, BRENDA, that you and your neighbours had won the first round regarding the proposed development next door.

Taxi just ordered for hospital tomorrow. OH had special dinner tonight, steak followed by sticky toffee pudding, cream with his pudding. He asked me if this was the last supper!!!

  • LOL Heather!! "Last supper" indeed!! Hope everything goes well tomorrow, I know how you both feel. When my OH had his 2nd one "done", I was allowed to sit in the waiting room with the other patients, mostly ladies, all waiting for their turn. Only one was apprehensive, and she came back smiling afterwards! BRENDA - I also meant to say that I was pleased to hear that you & the neighbours won the first round of your fight. Onward & upward!!
  • Heather, Best wishes to your OH. I hope all goes well and he is early on the list and isn't kept waiting. We both laughed at " the last supper ". ( I showed your post to my OH ). My OH said, " It doesn't matter what people tell you. It is the unknown that is worrying. "   I hope you both sleep well tonight. This time tomorrow, it will all be well over and he will be wearing a perspex eye shield and you will be administering the eye drops:-)) X

  • Clare, Best wishes for tomorrow's interview. You may even get a letter from the others tomorrow.

  • Rita - your beautiful photos of your cacti are changing my mind about cacti being dull!

  • Hey, folks, if there's anyone around RIGHT NOW: There's a snowy owl on the osprey nest at Collins Marsh in Wisconsin (U.S.) She's glorious!!! You can watch her live on the livestreaming webcam here: http://www.collinsmarsh.org/Collins_Marsh_and_Nature_Center/Welcome.html

  • She is certainly glorious

  • Hi all, having gremlins in my computer. Cannot get the desktop to come up or task bar and have to go through a task manager to get anywhere. Also trying to block ads but they are still coming up.

Heather - do hope OH's op goes well as I'm sure it will and hope you  both start to feel a little better.

George - nice to hear from you and pleased to hear that you are going up to your son's for a wee holiday, I'm sure that will help.

Lovely picture of snowy owl, Limpy.  She's gone now, just had a look.

Good to read all your news. Nothing too much happening down here. Off for my exercise tomorrow via a swimming pool!!

Margo - hope you soon start to pick up after the chemo week. Thinking of you and of all the others who are going through difficult times at present.
