It is the first day of a new month and the last osprey free month as far as us in Britain are concerned.
Mind you our first thoughts today are where Millie is? After a long stay near the Senegal river she took off south on 17 January and we anxious await the next download to see where she has ended up.
The wait for both EJ and Odin is getting really short now.
Just exactly when will they arrive? Will Blue XD be racing north in contrast to last year when the weather was somewhat against him?
The other big question is "Will Lady Return?" I said a year ago that I was not ruling it out and I am not going to this year either.
Mind you last season has not really finished at Kielder yet with all the antics of the tracked juveniles.
Last year we were asking if Blue YD would move north. Well as most of you know he did but then disappointingly his transmitter failed in Yorkshire. This year of course the big question is will Blue CF4 move north? I feel sure he will. Of course Blue CF4 is better known to us as Breagha. What a huge excitement his return should be.
There is so much excitement to look forward to. Better get all the housework and other chores done as from 1st March there is going to be little time to catch up (on the housework that is).
What great excitement lies in store?

i'm aware I haven't issued a new edition of the Osprey ID spreadsheet recently.
As an interim measure, I've attached an update showing sightings (and latest positions for tracked birds) as at the end of 2014.
I will now prepare a new edition for recording 2015 sightings.
Sue
Edit: I realised I had left a filter on the "All" page when I first uploaded the file - have now removed it.

Thank you. Much appreciated.
Great! Thanks Sue.

Your spreadsheet is valuable indeed, Sue, thank you for taking care.
I notice that the "2014" list doesn't include Blue DF (10) and that he was last reported in 2013 according to the "All" page.
Especially after sad news yesterday, I'm happy to share that Blue DF made it back to Scotland for the third time and was seen in Aviemore last year.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure it's redundant considering the number of photographers and hides in the area, but I just sent sighting details and pictures to Roy Dennis
Thanks Roberto - will include this info next time.

Starling said: From Roy Dennis website The ospreys are in their usual haunts (24th February) but will soon be heading north for a new season. We’ve been building new nests and replacing damaged ones – another couple to do after the winter gales.
Thank you very much Starling. I notice that Roy has more copies of his book available.
Is it my imagination or are there very few osprey sightings this year?
Tiger: Forgive me, please, I don't mean to distract from your good question above, but I thought I'd post this link. The photo is from Massachusetts. Can you imagine ospreys diving in this? More photos here and here. ;-)

Very fascinating pictures Diane. I can see it would make things hard for an osprey.
