WEEKLY CHAT (Non Osprey Topics) SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1st 2015

Where did January go? Really interesting hearing about all the new/pending pups - think you have found some surrogate owners!!!

  • Happy birthday, BRENDA, hope you have a lovely day!

  • A very happy birthday to Brenda!  I hope you're having a nice day.

My interview seemed to go all right - I was in there for an hour and twenty minutes and they didn't seem to get bored of me!!  I was even offered a cup of tea, which was most appreciated and bolstered my confidence a little.  They seem like a nice, friendly company so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Hello All - I meant to come on here last evening but was too busy knitting!!!  The snow is thawing a bit today so I am going to take the car out for a bit of shopping.

Annette - glad you were enjoying your birthday and hope you had a nice meal last night.  I liked the sound of the Garden Centre you visited. Could not help laughing over the sewage mens birthday visit!

Lindybird - so glad that your OH had good news yesterday and that you were able to have a little celebration.

Clare - pleased to hear that you enjoyed your interview, fingers crossed for you.

Brenda -  I do have to have round the clock heating for my greenhouse, but as they are kept absolutely dry all winter I can keep the heat at 10c and bring the slightly more tender ones indoors. The Conservatory has to be slightly warmer as I have some quite tender exotic flowers in there. As you can imagine, I have quite big electric bills, but as it is my main hobby I do not mind too much.

George - Nice to hear from you and to hear that you are still going out for walks.

Margo- I am finding that my fingers are a bit stiffer for knitting now!

  • Wendy - I like the sound of your bathroom with a view.   Recently I was looking at a magazine that featured an amazing new bungalow.  It had a very large bathroom with an enormous floor to ceiling plate glass window covering one whole wall. The bath was set right by the window with a marvellous view through the trees of the forest which surrounded the bungalow. It must have felt like having a bath outside, wonderful!  I assume that there was no habitation nearby!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRENDA!!! (another one I nearly missed). Here is a pic for you:
  • Rita - Interesting about your greenhouse etc. I suppose that most cacti don't mind it being a little chillier in winter, but would hate to be cold (if that makes sense!).?? Clare - That sounds promising - we will keep hoping!! At least you were there for a length of time, rather than in & out again! No place can be too bad where you are offered a nice cup of tea either!!
  • George - My OH has often continued his walks, even after we lost our dog. Its good to get some fresh air, even in this weather! The geese must be a lovely sight. I love to hear their honking. Margo - Hope that now your OH is not quite so busy, you can get some short trips out together occasionally. I know you like to go to the coast, and you are in a beautiful part of the country. When I was a youngster, we took our holidays in Weymouth, Durdle Door and nearby - it was so exciting to us as we lived many many miles from the sea, in Bedfordshire. We had competitions to see who could see the sea first, after most of the day travelling ( plus the inevitable "are we there yet???!)
  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRENDA!

    Good luck to Clare.

    Thinking of you, George.

  • Hello, hope your interview went well today Clare. Happy Birthday Brenda.

Obedience class 2 did not go as planned for Tapaidh and I yesterday. She obeyed absolutely none of the instructions and was worse than useless, at sitting and staying (in fact the staying was non existent).  I was exhausted at the end and had to go home for a class of wine.  The only saving grace was that she did not mess on the floor as three others did.  What a riot - going to send OH to next class.  Don't think he believes me when I say how badly she behaves there.  Here has here all day while I am at work and apparently she is an angel.  She may look it but I have my doubts......:)

  • Thank you OG, Margo, Rita, Linda, Heather, Clare and Diane for your Birthday wishes.

Rita, A lovely choice of flower, Iris, for my card. Thank you. Thanks also for answering my question about heating for your cacti and your conservatory plants. I received a bowl of indoor tulip bulbs, from a friend today. I hope they all flower, so that I can send her a photograph :-))

OG, We did enjoy lunch with our son and his wife. I do love to see the children, especially on my Birthday. We also went and had a 'light dinner' so we are not long back home. After quite a few months, our daughter finally exchanged contracts on the house she / boyfriend are buying. Their buyer has been playing for time for so long, by asking ridiculous questions.

Linda, Thank you for your butterfly card. I would love to see one of those in our garden. Really beautiful.

Clare, Pleased to hear that your interview passed so well. Sounds as if you would be happy to work there, so I hope you hear good news asap.

George, So pleased to see a post from you and that you are continuing your daily walks. I know you must find it painful, having to explain to those you have always met on your walks,  but I am sure it helps to talk to them. I hope the weather allows you to visit Loch Leven and see the geese. Maybe you would show us some photographs ? Best wishes to your SiL, who I think must be due for her operation shortly. Take care of yourself.
