WEEKLY CHAT (Non Osprey Topics) SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1st 2015

Where did January go? Really interesting hearing about all the new/pending pups - think you have found some surrogate owners!!!

  • Bjane, That is a lot of snow. Hope you are managing to stay warm.

Rita, Sorry you are having yet more snow. I presume you have to keep your cacti greenhouses at a constant temperature ? I loved the flowering cactus on your card for Annette.

Linda, I, also, loved your butterfly picture for Annette. It looked like stained glass .

Annette, I guess it will depend how much you eat at lunchtime, before you decide if you want to go out for dinner. Do enjoy yourself.
I did laugh at ' having to close the loo lids. '
Yes, the photograph is part of a very large camellia.

  • Clare.... Knock them dead:-))

OG We only have cows for neighbours normally absolutely no one can see either of us.

Even had the bath turned around for a better view:-)

Grit lorry down our road 4 times today lucky me as I ventured out earlier and some roads had been totally untouched.

When we bought said chaise OH said Daisy would love that...and that was before she came to stay!!

  • LINDY Don't keep the champagne for too long if it's not vintage!! When OH and I were involved with charity work a bottle of champagne was donated for a raffle. We noticed that the foil was a bit damaged so didn't enter it in the raffle and bought another bottle ourselves to replace it in the raffle. Not long afterwards there was a Town Twinning visit to France so we took that bottle with us on the trip. OH was Treasurer of TT at the time. The bottle was cracked open on the journey (many hours on a bus from Inverness to Brittany) not by us but as part of a picnic enjoyed en route. The champagne was  brown, undrinkable. Thankfully everyone knew it's history so we weren't embarrassed lol

Sorry if that sounds as if I know all about champagne. I don't!!
  • Good evening! Well, that was a quick result to all our positive thoughts! So pleased about the interview, Clare. I hope it goes really well and turns up just the job you are seeking. I wonder if you will be told the outcome straight away: I do hope so.

Linda – I had a little chuckle at you “smuggling” the shirt out of the store – I assume it was only hidden from your OH!

George – still thinking of you!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Lindybird  great news for your OH and you. You must feel so elated.

Clare good luck with interview, my fingers will be crossed.

  • Annette - belated birthday greetings

    Clare - good luck tomorrow

Wendyb - good price for your oil - thought I was doing well a couple of weeks ago with 19p off - who is your supplier?

  • Liz we have Gleaner at 38.5p

Will this change in the future who knows as it's a family firm now up for sale.

One less small firm means more big boys to fix prices:-(

  • OG: I tried to hide the M&S bag from my OH, not from the shop! :-). He sat in the car, listening to the radio whilst I floated around the Food Hall - unfortunately, to get there you have to go through the Men's Dept!! so I saw the sale. I limited myself to just one item, as there were several bargains to be had. When he saw I had two food bags plus another bag, I had to confess!!! But he hasn't seen his present yet. Our Eldest has valiantly battled on with the new desktop PC, and its now installed, complete with most of my stored photos & documents. We had some difficult moments, trying to remember some of the *#*+%# original passwords, etc. but we got there - phew. Now I have to get to grips with the new Windows system.
  • Margo - we enjoyed our celebration meal, with a glass of wine each and a lovely scone afterwards. Heather - it is a bottle we've had for a couple of years, given to us as a present. It looks OK, and we keep it laid down, not upright! One day we might open it when we have some company to share it with...... I love Champagne!!
  • Hi all, just flicked through all the posts, too many to answer to but picked up on one or two.

Annette -  A belated Happy Birthday and hope you had a lovely day

George and Mrs.T. - so sorry to learn that you have both lost your canine friends, paticularly George just the other day. I know you will miss them but at least the happy memories will stay with you.

Clare - just learnt about your redundancy but also that having enrolled with an agency the sent your CV to a prospective employer and you now have an interview pending.   Great news, do hope that you get the job.  I have had similar experiences with my OH before he retired.

Margo - so pleased that your blood results are good and that you continue to enjoy better health.

OH was feeling under the weather today so we missed out on the gym visit but hope to go again on Thursday.   Went to my usual Women's meeting at church today and unfortunately the speaker had to cancel due to a bad cough. However our Chair had got something together and we entertained ourselves.   She had picked up on Julie Andrews's 79th birthday song which Julie had put together singing it to the tune of My Favourite Things. Its quite funny. If I get a copy from my friend I will try and post it. Learnt today of a lovely man who use to go to my home chapel (before it had to close in 2011), who had passed away. I knew him in my youth days, from Sunday School and Youth Club and also he was a Local Preacher. One more bites the dust of the old brigade.

    Thinking of you all.
